  • Page 2 Emergency stop of UV irradiation - 1: EMERGENCY signal Equipment design Use the [EMER] signal to stop the UV irradiation of UJ20. Terminals [11] and [12] are shorted by a shorting bar as a factory default. Connect an emergency stop SW between these terminals so that the signal input can be turned off when the SW is pressed, and a forced stop of UV irradiation will be possible even in the middle of the process.
  • Page 3 Emergency stop of UV irradiation -2: STOP signal Equipment design Use the [STOP] signal terminal [9] to stop the UV irradiation of UJ20. When the signal is input between terminals [9] and [12], the UV irradiation will stop, and the [ERROR] signal will be turned on. [ERROR] is output because the UV irradiation has not completed.
  • Page 4 Emergency stop of UV irradiation -3: [EMISSION] SW Operation Press the [EMISSION] SW on the panel to stop the UV [EMISSION] irradiation. When the UV irradiation is stopped by the [EMISSION] SW, [ERROR] is output because the UV irradiation has not completed.
  • Page 5 UV irradiation by an external signal (foot SW) (when using one head) Equipment design When using a foot SW or other external signal to start the UV irradiation, use the [START] input terminal for easier connection. When using only one LED head, connect the head to [CH1], and connect the foot SW between terminals [1] and [12].
  • Page 6 UV irradiation by an external signal (foot SW) (when using one head) Equipment design When using a foot SW or other external signal to start UV irradiation, use the [START] input terminal for easier connection. UV irradiation starts when the [START] signal is received while the [READY] signal is on.
  • Page 7 How to use BUSY signals Equipment design The [BUSY] output signals stay on during UV irradiation by the corresponding heads from CH1 to CH4. The BUSY1 to BUSY4 signals are output for heads CH1 to CH4 independently. Even if the output is set to 0% by the irradiation pattern setting, these signals are output. These signals can be used for controlling the indicator that is lit during UV irradiation by each head.
  • Page 8 How to use BUSY signals (Connection of UV irradiation indicators) Equipment design UJ20 has a 5 V DC (250 mA) external power supply. Use this power supply and BUSY1 to BUSY4 in combination, and UV irradiation indicators can be directly connected without any external devices.
  • Page 9 START signal modes: PULSE/STATUS Equipment design There are two START signal modes: [PULSE] and [STATUS]. [PULSE]: UV irradiation starts when an external START pulse signal is input. When the preset time has elapsed, UV irradiation stops. [STATUS]: While an external START signal is input, UV irradiation continues. When the START signal is turned off within the preset time, the irradiation stops.
  • Page 10 UV irradiation starting by SW-on and stopping at a preset time Equipment UV irradiation starts when the foot SW is stepped on (momentary input = no design need for keeping the SW stepped on), and stops when the preset time has elapsed.
  • Page 11 UV irradiation while holding SW on and stopping at the preset time Equipment The UV irradiation continues while the foot SW is stepped on (alternate design input), and stops when the preset time has elapsed. When the foot SW is turned off, the UV irradiation stops. [STATUS]: While an external START signal is input, the UV irradiation continues.
  • Page 12 Collective/individual lighting control of multiple heads (ALL/MULTI) Setting UJ20 has four channel connectors for connection of up to four heads. There are two modes for controlling signals to the channels (lighting of the heads): [ALL] and [MULTI] The two modes are switched on UJ20. [ALL] Mode to light multiple heads collectively with one external signal [MULTI]...
  • Page 13 Collective lighting control of multiple heads [ALL]-[PULSE] [ALL] Setting Mode to light multiple heads collectively with one external signal [PULSE] Mode to start irradiation by turning on the START signal with a short input pulse (1) UV irradiation continues for a preset time after the START signal is turned on.
  • Page 14 Collective lighting control of multiple heads [ALL]-[STATUS] [ALL] Setting Mode to light multiple heads collectively with one external signal [STATUS] Mode to continue UV irradiation while the START signal input stays on. (UV irradiation continues while a foot SW stays on and stops when the SW is turned off.) (1) UV irradiation continues for a preset time within the period where the START signal is kept on.

[STATUS] Mode to continue the UV irradiation while the START signal input stays on. (Individual heads continue UV irradiation while the respective foot START-1 SWs stay on and stop the irradiation when the SWs are turned off.)
  • Page 17 Lighting control of the heads in pairs using two foot SWs Setting In the [MULTI] mode, the heads (channels) can be turned on individually by the respective external inputs. The heads (channels) can also be controlled in pairs separately using two foot SWs if foot SW 1 is assigned to CH1 and CH2, and SW 2 to CH3 and CH4.
  • Page 18 UV irradiation only by signal inputs regardless of time setting Equipment UV irradiation can be freely controlled using only external signals regardless design of the UV irradiation time setting by UJ20. [MNL]: Manual mode (1) Manual setting of the manual mode Hold down the [SET] SW, and the mode will change from [AUTO] to [MNL].
  • Page 19 UV irradiation only by signal inputs regardless of time setting: [MNL] irradiation Equipment If the mode is switched to manual mode by using the [MNL.] signal, the UV design irradiation can be freely controlled using only external signals regardless of the UV irradiation time set by UJ20.
  • Page 20 UV irradiation pattern switching Equipment The UV irradiation patterns (TYPE00 to 15) of UJ20 can be switched with design external signals [TYPE Cng1 to 4]. The irradiation pattern can be switched by changing the input status of the [TYPE Cng1 to 4] signals while the [READY] signal is on. Maintain the status of the irradiation pattern signals depending on the target irradiation pattern.
  • Page 21 UV irradiation pattern switching Equipment The UV irradiation patterns (TYPE00 to 15) of UJ20 can be switched with design external signals [TYPE Cng1 to 4]. The irradiation pattern can be switched by changing the input status of the [TYPE Cng1 to 4] signals while the [READY] signal is on. * While the [READY] signal is off, the irradiation pattern cannot be switched even if the [TYPE Cng1 to 4] signal settings are changed.

Remedies for outputs of [ALARM] and [ERROR] warning signals When the [ALARM] or [ERROR] external signal is Troubleshooting output, the UJ20 operation is under a warning condition. Take appropriate actions by referring to the table below. When [ALARM] is output, the [READY] signal is on, ERROR ALARM and UV irradiation is possible.
  • Page 23 UV irradiation is impossible although [ERROR] is not displayed Troubleshooting When the UV irradiation cannot started by pressing the [EMISSION] key or inputting an external signal although the panel is not displaying [ERROR], the [READY] signal is off because the UV irradiation conditions are not met. Remedy (1) Ensure that the shorting bar between terminals [11] and [12] is not detached.
  • Page 24 Precautions for simultaneous input of the START signal to multiple UJ20 controllers Equipment One START signal can be simultaneously input to multiple UJ20 controllers. design Add diodes to the terminals to prevent input signal currents from leaking. There are no problems when only one controller is used. However, as shown in Figure 1, when one of multiple controllers is powered on and the others are powered off, a small current from the START terminal of the ON-controller passes the START terminals of the OFF-controllers, their internal boards, and then the GND terminals.
