Tabletop Mounting Calix GigaCenters can be mounted on a tabletop in a “tower” confi guration using the tabletop stand shipped with the product. Assemble the tabletop stand and the GigaCenter as shown in the following diagram.

Connect a CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet cable from an Ethernet LAN port on the data/ video source device to the white Ethernet WAN (Eth-WAN) interface on the back of the GigaCenter 844E. Plug in the power adapter shipped with the GigaCenter to an available wall sock- et and attach the other end to the GigaCenter’s power port.

Using the GigaCenter’s EWI, navigate to Quick Start > Confi gure Wireless Network. Note: Calix recommends changing the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSID settings and any customized security settings prior to enabling WAP mode. In the Wireless Access Point (bridged mode) section, click the Wireless Access Point radio button to Enable and then click Apply.
Wireless Access Point Home Gateway Settings As mentioned previously, when the 844E is confi gured as a Wireless Access Point (WAP), the web based Home Gateway settings are no longer accessible using the IP address http://192.168.1.1. When in WAP mode, it may be necessary to change the SSID network name, security passwords or login settings to match the upstream rout- er.

Q: My Wi-Fi signal strength is lower than I expected? A: A wireless signal degrades with distance and obstructions.
