Failure to follow the warnings and instruc- tions may result in electric shock, fire and serious injury. To avoid mistakes and serious injury, do not plug in your tool until the following steps have been read and understood. - Page 5 GENERAL SAFETY RULES POWER TOOL USE AND CARE 1. Avoid accidental start-ups. Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting the plug to a power source or carrying the tool. 2. Check power tool for damaged parts. SPECIFIC RULES FOR POLE SAWS WARNING: DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with the product gained from repeated use replace strict adherence to product safety rules. An improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or consider- ably increase the risk of kickback. Only use replacement bars and chains specified by WEN. Replace dull chains as necessary (see page 14). Make sure the chain cover lock screw is tight.

ELECTRICAL INFORMATION FOR ALL DOUBLE-INSULATED TOOLS Double insulation is a concept in electrical power tool safety, where two systems of insulation are pro- vided. This eliminates the need for the usual three-wire grounded power cord. All exposed metal parts are isolated from the internal metal motor components with protecting insulation. Double insulated tools do not need to be grounded. -

Before operating your pole saw, make sure to fill the oil tank with the included oil. Use 40# multigrade viscosity non-detergent motor oil for future lubrication. The use of the pole saw without enough saw chain oil will damage the unit.

The guide bar must be replaced if the groove of the guide is worn out or the spur wheel in the guide bar is damaged or worn out. The saw chain must be replaced when it becomes dull. Replacement guide bars (Model 4019-117) and saw chains (Model 4019-118) can be ordered from wenproducts.com. - Page 15 Replace the brushes when the brush length (Fig. 13) gets down to 3/16 of an inch or when the tool sparks or stops working. NOTE: Replacement carbon brushes (Part No. 4019-131) can be or- dered at wenproducts.com. Only genuine WEN replacement brushes designed specifically for your tool should be used.
