DO NOT power a TigerStop positioning system directly with a delta high-leg transformer. If delta high-leg power must be used to power a TigerSaw Miter, then the isolation transformer between incoming power and the positioner MUST NOT receive the high leg.
TigerStop Controls The mitering motion and the pushing motion on a TigerSaw Miter have very similar control electronics (above). Throughout this manual, these components will be referred to as (from left to right): • Amplifier • I/O Panel • Controller The amplifier, on the left, provides power to drive the motor.
Saw Operation System Power Power into the TigerSaw Miter system is turned on and off with the large red rotary switch on the power cabinet, located at the right rear corner of the saw base. In the off position, this switch folds out and can be locked into place for lockout/tagout procedures.
Saw Operation Access Doors and Safety Switches There are three access doors on the TigerSaw Miter. Each access door is equipped with a separate safety switch. Warning: DO NOT disable or bypass the safety switches. Replace failed safety switches immediately.
Page 12
Saw Operation Cabinet Base Doors The cabinet base doors should only be opened for maintenance. To prevent operator access, the handle can be removed from the knob. Front Cabinet Base Door The front cabinet base door is secured by a safety switch that doubles as a latch. The latch prevents the front cabinet base door from opening while the saw is spinning.
Integration & Automation The TigerSaw Miter uses TigerStop’s advanced interconnect kit (AIK2) to allow combined control of the positioner and the saw. This allows a greater degree of automation, with benefits to safety and productivity. Components Signaling for the AIK2 is routed through the I/O panel (above).
19). There are three options: Full Auto: Both cutting and positioning are automated. • This is the standard setting for the TigerSaw Miter. • The operator selects a pusher list, loads stock, and starts the process. • The system automatically pushes and cuts until the entire stock piece is processed.
Basic TigerStop Operation Controller Display The top line on the controller display always contains information about the current status of the electronics. • The heartbeat, in the upper left, is a rotating line indicating normal function. The heartbeat stops during data entry.
Basic TigerStop Operation Ready Screen The Ready Screen (above) is the starting point for all TigerStop functions. The Ready Screen can always be reached by repeatedly pressing STOP The Ready Screen has two forms (above). From the basic Ready Screen (left), press the [Show] soft key to display the expanded options (right).
Basic TigerStop Operation Calculator Calculator mode does simple math, setting the result as the target position. From the Ready Screen (pg. 10), use the number and math buttons to enter math problems. Example: Press The result (85) will appear in the ‘Next’ field in the current units.
2. Press the [PrSet] soft key to access the PreSet menu. 3. Enter the number of the desired PreSet and press 4. TigerStop will move to the PreSet position. • Presets can instead be set to move from the current position by the programmed amount (pg.
Basic TigerStop Operation Jogging changes the position without a specific target. Speed will gradually increase until the jog button is released. The pusher will then glide to a gentle stop. To stop movement immediately, press STOP Warning: Jogging allows travel beyond the limit settings.
The TigerStop Menu The TigerStop menu contains settings to adjust the behavior of the TigerStop. This manual will explain common menu settings. The menu options are fully described in the TigerStop version 5 User’s Guide, available at www.tigerstop.com. From the Ready Screen (pg.
The TigerStop Menu Home The home routine is a reference routine that must be successfully completed before the motor will respond to commands. The home routine is a standard part of initialization (pg. 9), but it can also be run from the menu to clear some error states.
The TigerStop Menu Find End Limits Finding the end limits automatically locates the minimum and maximum limits of travel. The positioner will move slowly, first to the home end and then to the minimum position. The limit settings will be updated.
The TigerStop Menu Scale Scale is the setting that relates motor rotation to the distance traveled. Adjust the scale when accuracy decreases with distance from the calibration point. The fastest way to arrive at the correct scale is through the scaling cycle.
The TigerStop Menu Password To change the password: Access the Options menu (pg. 14) and press repeatedly until the Password screen is displayed. 2. Enter the current password and press • The current password will be displayed. • The default password is the serial number.
The TigerStop Menu Disable Quick Calibration Removing the quick calibration button from the Ready Screen prevents operators from changing the calibration without a password. To disable quick calibration: Access the Options menu (pg. 14) and press repeatedly until the Show Cal screen is displayed.
TigerTouch TigerTouch is a more convenient control system for the TigerSaw Miter. TigerTouch software allows control of both pushing and mitering motions from a single tablet, enabling the TigerSaw Miter to process lists of parts. This manual will discuss basic TigerTouch operation as well as topics specific to the TigerSaw Miter. TigerTouch operation is covered more extensively in the TigerTouch User’s Guide, available at https://www.tigerstop.com/support/manuals/.
TigerTouch Move Screen The Move screen allows manual control of all connected equipment. The Move screen can always be accessed by touching “Move” at the top of the screen. Display: • The miter angle and pusher position are both displayed at the lower left of the Move Screen. •...
TigerTouch List Screen The List screen is used to process cut lists. The List screen can always be accessed by touching “List” at the top of the screen. Display: • Length is the back-fence length of the specified part. Back-fence length is the dimension of the part in contact with the back fence during processing. •...
TigerTouch Options Screen The Options screen provides interface choices, functionality outside of the typical work flow, and access to the settings on connected TigerStops. The Options screen can always be accessed by touching “Options” at the top of the screen. Display: •...
TigerTouch Pivot Point Calibration TigerTouch stores information about the pivot point of the TigerSaw Miter. This is CRITICAL to allow accurate part lengths. The pivot point information is stored on the tablet during installation and training, and should not change over the life of the TigerSaw.
Adjustments Air pressure in the TigerSaw Miter can be adjusted at the regulators (below, right). These regulators are located on the right side of the saw base, under the cover (below, left). Lift up and then out to remove the cover.
Adjustments Saw Stroke Height The saw stroke affects the cutting envelope and the time needed for a saw cycle. The lower limit of the saw stroke is fixed. The upper limit of the saw stroke is set by the position of the upper limit switch, located in the saw base.
Do not change the thresholds without specific instructions from TigerStop customer service. • Speeds should never exceed 25 in/s (635 mm/s) for a TigerStop, or 30 in/s (762 mm/s) for a TigerTurbo. • Scale should be between 2 and 3.
Troubleshooting Boot Diagnostics Boot diagnostics is a tool for testing TigerStop subsystems. To access boot diagnostics, press and hold while powering up. STOP Line 1 shows the encoder count. • This number should change smoothly as the motor rotates. •...
Troubleshooting 4. Press to begin the test, and wait for the results. 5. The I/O test is passed if the “Bad Pins” field is empty. • Failure to unplug the I/O cable can cause false negative results (e.g. bad pin 2). •...
