5.3 Stopping signal transmission

In the event of accidental activation or as soon as the user
has been rescued, it is important to immediately neutralize
the distress signal transmission .
To reduce the transmission range to a few meters, either
cut the two antenna sections at their base or coil the two
antenna sections around the watch case in order to short-
circuit the electromagnetic transmission . The indicator at
12 o'clock will continue to blink until the battery has
completely run down .

6. DAY-TO-DAY USE OF THE BEACON

6.1 Rechargeable battery

To comply with Cospas-Sarsat specifications, Breitling has
developed a specific battery that meets these demands
within a very small space . This rechargeable lithium battery
delivers maximum performance when recharged at least
once every two months . There is very little drain on it as long
as the beacon is not activated . However, like all batteries,
there is a certain amount of spontaneous discharge that
must be compensated by regular recharging .
The watch has a LED indicator at noon on the dial . In normal
conditions, the indicator will blink red (a red flash every four
seconds) two months after the last recharge cycle . In certain
exceptional circumstances (for example long storage at high
temperature), the indicator could also blink red before the
two-month time limit .

IMPORTANT: As mentioned above, the Emergency beacon's
battery was developed especially for this product . So there
is no equivalent or replacement product on the market . Only
an authorized Breitling service center can replace the battery .
6.2 Recharging the battery and performing a self-test on the
beacon
This chapter concerns only the distress beacon and its
rechargeable battery . It does not apply to the chronograph
watch, which is powered by another non-rechargeable
battery .
An initial charging procedure and self-test must be done
after purchase, while subsequent recharging and self-tests
must be done at least once every two months and ideally
before each mission or expedition. The self-test to check that
the beacon is operating properly is performed automatically
after each recharge.
If the indicator on the watch dial blinks red, the beacon's
battery requires recharging . The charger/tester is designed
for indoor use only (since it is not water-resistant) and plugged
into an outside power source . When the "POWER" indicator
light is green, place the watch on the charger/tester .
Charge/self-test procedure
The charge/self-test cycle can be performed at any time .
The indicator at noon on the watch dial blinks red automa-
tically two months after the last recharge cycle or if the bat-
tery level is too low to meet minimum broadcast criteria .
