    Chapter 1: User Management This chapter describes how to manage users. The “users” described here refer to user accounts created for the purpose of operating on the HD RECORDING SERVER. User Privileges Users of the HD RECORDING SERVER are categorized into users with administrator privileges and users with only general privileges.

    • Delete recording files Delete recording files stored on the HD RECORDING SERVER and recording file information stored on the database. Recording files copied to other servers cannot be deleted. For details, see “Deleting Recording Files via RSOnline” (page 30). User Authentication When user authentication is enabled, only registered users can perform recording operations.

    Administrator This is the default user account that includes administrator privileges. This user cannot be deleted. However, its password and other user information can be edited. Anonymous This is the default user account with general privileges that can only be used when user authentication is disabled.

    Click the [User] menu. Click the user you want to copy. The user you clicked will be selected (i.e., displayed in light blue). Click the [Add by Copy] button. The user registration dialog box appears with information from the copied user already entered.

    Editing User Information A user with administrator privileges can edit user information. A user without administrator privileges can only edit their own information and cannot grant themselves administrator privileges. Information for Anonymous users cannot be changed.     Chapter 2: Logging into Recording Server Online What is Recording Server Online (RSOnline)? Recording Server Online (RSOnline) refers to the Web management screen for the HD RECORDING SERVER. Accessing RSOnline allows you to start/stop recording, download recording files, and perform other operations. Browser Requirements for RSOnline RSOnline requires one of the following Web browsers to operate.

    • Connect to the HD VISUAL COMMUNICATION SERVER to record meetings. • Record one-to-one (P2P) connections between H.323 terminals (mainly Sony terminals) or multipoint connections that use the H.323 terminal’s internal MCU. Note P2P connections for PC Endpoint cannot be recorded. To record P2P connections for PC Endpoint, use the recording functions on PC Endpoint.

    Recording Duration The maximum recording duration for a single recording is 8 hours (default setting). You can change this setting in the server settings. For details on the maximum recording duration for your server, consult the system administrator. Recording File Specifications The specifications for recording files recorded on the HD RECORDING SERVER are as follows.

    Chapter 4: Recording Meetings This chapter describes how to record when conducting meetings using the HD VISUAL COMMUNICATION SERVER. Methods for recording meetings include accessing RSOnline and connecting to a meeting from the recording server to record (“caller” method), and connecting to the recording server from a meeting to record (“call destination”...

When you call a meeting from RSOnline to start recording, the call direction is “caller.” Note File names during recording are determined by a naming rule and cannot be specified.     Start Recording Meetings via VCOnline You can start recording sessions for meetings by calling the HD RECORDING SERVER in the same way endpoints are called to meetings by the MCU via the VCOnline monitor. For details on other recommended methods for recording meetings, see “Start Recording Meetings via RSOnline”...

    This method for stopping recording can only be performed by users with administrator privileges for accessing VCOnline. Note To stop recording for only the HD RECORDING SERVER specified from a list of participants in the VCOnline monitor (Meeting) instead of withdrawing all of the participants, you must use VCOnline to perform user registration for all the HD RECORDING SERVER sessions beforehand.

    Open the call management panel, specify the H.323 alias, E.164 number, or IP address of the HD RECORDING SERVER in [Specify Destination] (ex: recording1), and click the [Invite] button. The HD RECORDING SERVER connects to the meeting, and recording starts. The appearance of the called HD RECORDING SERVER in the member list under the [Participants] tab of PC Endpoint will indicate that recording has started.

    Chapter 5: Recording Communications between H.323 Terminals The HD RECORDING SERVER can record communications between H.323 terminals with internal multipoint control units (MCU). This chapter describes how to record H.323 terminal communications using the HD RECORDING SERVER. Recording H.323 Terminal Communications via RSOnline Access RSOnline and connect to the H.323 terminals with internal MCU functions to start recording using this method.

The following is an example using a Sony PCS-XG80 with multipoint connection software installed.     Chapter 6: Downloading Recording Files This chapter describes how to download files that were recorded with the HD RECORDING SERVER. Downloading Recording Files from the Video Archive Page Recording files are created in MP4 format after recording is stopped, and are automatically made available for download from the video archive screen of RSOnline.

    Chapter 7: Playing Back Recording Files This chapter describes how to play back files that were recorded with the HD RECORDING SERVER. Recording files are saved in MP4 format. A player that supports playback of MP4-format files (e.g., Windows Media Player and QuickTime Player) is required to play back the recording files.

Hint If files with the “.mp4” extension are associated with QuickTime Player in your operating system settings, you can double-click the file to start playback in QuickTime Player automatically.

Editing Recording File Titles and Comments Titles and comments entered for recording files before recording started can be edited after recording finishes.

    Deleting Recording Files via RSOnline You can select files to delete in the video archive page. You can delete multiple recording files at one time. Administrator privileges are required to delete recording files in RSOnline. If a user with only general privileges performs the following procedure, the recording files will disappear from the list screen of the video archive.
