    LEO Instructions 1 - 03 General information and warnings Required operator qualifications Personnel responsible for running or servicing the machine must be in possession of specific professional qualifications for each of the required tasks. The operator must be instructed and hence familiar with the assigned duties under his/her responsibility. The following is a description of the professional profiles for machine operators. Operator Qualified person capable of performing simple tasks such as running the machine through the use of the pushbutton panel and loading and unloading of the materials used in production: the operator is typically capable of performing simple tasks of adjustment, start-up or resumption of production following a forced stoppage. Maintenance Mechanic Qualified technician able to run the machine in normal conditions, to run it with the protections disabled, to work on mechanical parts to perform adjustments, maintenance operations and any repairs that may be needed. The maintenance mechanic is not authorised to work on live electrical systems. Maintenance Electrician Qualified technician able to run the machine in normal conditions and run it with the protections disabled. The maintenance electrician can perform all electrical adjustment, maintenance and repair tasks. The maintenance electrician is authorized to work inside electrical cabinets and junction boxes while the electrical power is connected. Handling Operative Person with specific skills in lifting techniques and equipment, harnessing techniques and safe handling of loads.

    LEO Instructions 1 - 07 General instructions and warnings 1 - Safety recommendations The end user must comply with the seller's instructions concerning: • recommendations for correct installation of the machine • correct use of the machine and periodic maintenance of all its components including the safety devices • the requirements of statutory legislation The following safety recommendations define the behaviours and obligations to be complied with when performing the activities listed in the manual, the methods of use prescribed by the manual, and the method of working in conditions of safety for personnel and the surrounding environment. 2 - Machinery Directive The expression "machinery directive" refers to EUROPEAN COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 2006/42/EC 3 - Machine A machine is a functional unit composed of: drive system, work unit, work and standby equipment; technical systems (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, lubricating) and any supplementary assemblies to complete the functional performance of the plant. 4 - Work zone A work zone is a protected volume delimited by safety guards and designed to be in operation when the machine is running.
  • Page 10 LEO Instructions 1 - 08 General instructions and warnings Cont'd…Safety recommendations 9 - Commissioning Commissioning denotes the activity of functional checking of the installed machine. 10 - Manual mode Manual mode is the operating mode wherein, in response to a manual command imparted by the operator, the machine performs movements at controlled speed in the protected space in response to a manual command, with safety guards in their closed position and starting from the pushbutton panel. 11 - Automatic mode Automatic mode is the operating mode wherein the machine independently executes the programmed cycle at working speed in the protected space, with safety guards in their closed position and starting from the main pushbutton panel. 12 - Machine management Machine management is the set of operations that the person in charge must carry out to allow proper execution of the work process.

    LEO Instructions 1 - 09 General instructions and warnings Operating modes Installation and commissioning The machine installation and are only permitted to authorised personnel. During installation, handle the machine parts as indicated in this manual. The installation area for the machine must, as far as possible, be free of materials that may prevent or limit visibility. Check that all machine interlock and safety devices are properly secured and that there are no mobile or loose parts. Also check that the control unit components are intact. Check the consistency between the power supply voltage indicated on the CE plate and the voltage value of the mains distribution network. Check that the safety guards are properly installed and perfectly efficient. Press the EMERGENCY button (A) to stop the machine in emergency situations.
  • Page 12 LEO Instructions 1 - 10 General instructions and warnings Cont’d…Operating modes Machine management The machine must only be managed by authorized and properly trained personnel or, at least, with sufficient technical experience. Perform the following operations before starting the machine: Carefully read the technical documentation; Enquire on the operation and positioning of the emergency stop device on the machine; Know which safety devices and protections are available on the machine, their location and their operation. It is forbidden to disconnect or partially remove the safety devices and protections located at the working area access. The same rule applies to the hazard signals located in particular areas of the machine. The safety devices and protections must be kept in perfect order to allow proper operation; in the case of failure, they must be immediately repaired or replaced. The unauthorised use of commercial parts and accessories forming part of the safety devices and protections may cause malfunctions and give rise to hazardous situations for the operat- ing personnel. Maintenance and repair Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair are only permitted to authorised personnel. Installation and maintenance or replacement of components on the machine or on the control unit must be carried out with the machine off. Faulty components must be replaced with others of the same code. The disabled safeties must be restored at the end of maintenance and troubleshooting.

    LEO Instructions 1 - 11 General instructions and warnings Set-up by the customer Without prejudice to other contractual agreements, the customer is normally responsible for: - preparing the premises (including masonry work such as any required foundations and ducting, etc.); - non-slip, level flooring without roughness; - installation of any safety devices upstream and downstream of the energy supply lines (such as circuit breakers, earthing systems, safety valves, etc.) provided for by the legislation in force in the country of installation; - earth system compliant with Standard IEC 64-8; - adequate lighting compliant with Standard EN 60204-1 CAUTION The machine is not equipped with a standard lighting system. The ambient level of lighting must always be such to avoid shadow cones and ensure operation in the highest possible safety in relation to the type of use to which it is intended. In the event of maintenance operations located in insufficiently lit parts, it is compulsory to obtain portable lighting systems taking care to avoid shadows that prevent or reduce visibility where people are operating and the surrounding areas.

    LEO Instructions 2 - 01 SAFETY General information For the machine to operate in any operating condition including maintenance, the presence of more than one person is not required. The use of several people is unnecessary and, however, is not permitted for safety reasons.

    LEO Instructions 3 - 01 MACHINE DESCRIPTION LEO Pallet Wrapper Robot The machine operation is semi-automatic in that the coupling, uncoupling and film cut at cycle end is carried out by an operator. The machine components are a carriage where a film roll is mounted. This type of carriage have a mechanical friction system to tension the film. A photocell is standard mounted on the film holder which reads the height of the pallet to be wrapped. Intended use The machine is able to wrap pallets up to a maximum height of 2000.   • Page 24 LEO Instructions 4 - 02 COMMISSIONING Battery charging The machine is delivered with the batteries already charged. To check the state of charge, turn on the machine and wait for the display to shows under the number of program in use: BATTERIA (BAT T ERY) with the voltage value at the side. To charge the batteries, insert the supplied ca b le in the appropriate socket (Fig. 13) on one side, and to a 110-240 V - 6 Amp current socket. The battery charger is inside the machine. The batteries are of “GEL” type, maintenance- free and sealed. They DO NOT emit vapors. With batteries fully discharged (the display shows 18V), charging takes about 8 hours. CAUTION...
  • Page 25 LEO Instructions 4 - 03 COMMISSIONING Driving the robot In order to become familiar with the responses of the machine driving controls, repeatedly perform the forward, reverse, turn left and right movements. Take the steering handle and using the forward-backward (Fig. 16 - Pos. A) and right- left (Fig. 16 - Pos. C) buttons, start moving the machine in all directions. NOTE The right-left keys do not perform any action if one of the two forward-backward keys are not pressed at the same time. Operator protective device In case the reversing machine touches the operator, the red key (Fig. 16 - Pos. B) would be pressed, stopping the machine immediately.   • Page 26 LEO Instructions 4 - 04 COMMISSIONING After having inserted the film roll in the housings, upper (Fig. 19) and lower; turn the knob to block the film roll (Fig. 20 – Pos. A). Block the knob by turning the lever (Fig. 20 - Pos. B). CAUTION The upper film roll centring cone (Fig. 19) is simply used to avoid that the film roll, during unwinding, comes out from its seat falling and, therefore, it should never be excessively tightened, since it is NOT needed to restrain it.

    LEO Instructions 5 - 04 USING THE MACHINE Operation CAUTION The robot needs a minimum space of 750 mm around the pal- let to be able to operate correctly (Fig. 23). Insert the key and turn it to switch on the machine. Press ON/OFF Position LEO in the middle of the long side, with the touching arm near the pallet to be wrapped and secure the plastic film to it (Fig. 24).

    LEO Instructions 5 - 06 USING THE MACHINE EMERGENCY Intervention In the case of emergency intervention, pressing the red mushroom- shaped button (Fig. 26) blocks the robot in position and the display indicates IRREGULAR STOP. To overcome this situation, release the button by gently turning it clockwise by about ¼ of a turn. Then press ESC to enter the normal cycle of operation. The display shows the message IRREGULAR STOP also in case of front bumber intervention. again, restarts the Pressing START cycle from where it was interrupted.

    LEO Instructions 6 - 01 MACHINE MAINTENANCE Safety precautions Introduction The personnel in charge of running and servicing the machine must be well trained and have an in-depth knowledge of the safety standards; unauthorized personnel must remain outside the working area. Qualification of maintenance personnel The composition and qualification of personnel teams set-out in the maintenance plan are those recommended by ITALDIBIPACK S.p.A.. Mechanical maintenance technician Qualified technician able to run the machine in normal conditions, make it work in manual mode, intervene on mechanical parts to perform all necessary adjust- ments, maintenance and repairs. Electrical maintenance technician Qualified technician able to run the machine in normal conditions and make it work in manual mode; is responsible for all electrical interventions of adjustment,...
  • Page 35 LEO Instructions 6 - 02 MACHINE MAINTENANCE continued Specific safety precautions Before resuming service, check the machine again in ac- cordance with the start-up procedures. • Avoid using flammable or toxic solvents, such as petrol, benzene, ether and alcohol. • Avoid prolonged contact with solvents and inhalation of their vapours. • Never use water jets in the case of fire on the electrical equipment and use CO2 fire extin- guishers.   • Page 36 LEO Instructions 6 - 03 MACHINE MAINTENANCE General cleaning Daily perform a general clean of the machine at the end of each shift using a non-aggressive or abrasive liquid, we recommend that used for cleaning glass. Maintenance of competence of the mechanical maintenance technician Cleaning of carriage driving wheels Weekly check that there is no dirt or pieces of film jam- med in the wheels (Fig. 28) that may cause the up or down malfunction of the film roll holder carriage. Monthly check the efficiency of the SAFETY EQUIPMENT: - Front bumper (Fig. 31) Motor check Monthly check the efficiency of the MOTORS located inside the machine (Fig.32).   • Page 38 LEO Instructions 6 - 05 MACHINE MAINTENANCE Maintenance of competence of the electrical maintenance technician Luminous and acoustic signal Check the efficiency of the luminous and acoustic signal (Fig. 34), immediately re- place the bulb in the case of malfunction. Ground discharge The metal chain shown in Figure 35 allows discharging any electrostatic dis- charges to the ground. Periodically check that the chain always touches the ground for it to be efficient. Otherwise, replace it with a longer one. 40A Fuse efficiency check If the display does not switch-on when the machine is turned on, a failure of the 40 A fuse is probable.

    LEO Instructions 7 - 01 DEMOLITION AND DISPOSAL OF THE MACHINE ATTENZIONE The machine must be decommissioned and disassembled by qualified personnel, both electrical and mechanical, who must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment such as clothing suitable for the operations to be per- formed, protective gloves, accident-prevention shoes, protective helmets and goggles.
  • Page 42 LEO Instructions Warranty Within the limits of the matters expressed below, the supplier undertakes to make good any construction defects that may occur during the twelve (12) months of the warranty, which runs from the date of collection appearing on the transport document. The warranty expressly excludes parts subject to normal wear and tear (e.g. belts, rubber- faced rollers, seals and gaskets, brushes, etc.) and electrical parts. To make a warranty claim the customer must inform the supplier immediately of the problems, quoting the machine serial number. The customer should then send the supplier the defective part so that it can be repaired or replaced. The supplier will make the repair / provide a replacement within a reasonable period of time. Having repaired or replaced the defective part the supplier's warranty obligations are fulfilled in their entirety. In the case of repairs or replacements to be carried out at the place of installation of the machine, all labour, travel and living costs of the technicians or fitters provided shall be entirely at the customer's expense. The supplier is responsible for defects deriving from normal use of the machine. The supplier is not responsible for defects deriving from: problems that occur only after delivery of the machine misuse of the machine lack of maintenance unauthorised tampering or repairs Moreover, the supplier cannot be held liable for possible injury to persons or damage to property other than the machine under warranty, nor for possible loss of production. For materials not manufactured by the supplier, such as electrical equipment and motors, the supplier grants the same warranty that it receives from the vendors of said materials. The supplier cannot guarantee that the machine will comply with statutory legal requirements in the countries in which it is installed, and especially with those connected to prevention of accidents at work and pollution. Any adjustments required to adapt the machine to comply with any such foregoing requirements are to be carried out by the customer, which assumes fully responsibility for the outcome, holding the supplier harmless and undertaking to relieve it of any whatsoever liability or claims that may be presented by third parties due to the omitted compliance with any such normative requirements.
