Some vehicles are equipped with a factory-installed dampner. The ® dampner looks similar to the SAFE T PLUS unit, with one end attached to the Tie-Rod, and the other end is usually attached to the frame of the vehicle. If dampner is installed, remove dampner, brackets, and mounting hardware in its entirety before continuing with procedure.

Using a socket wrench with a 9/16-inch socket, loosen Flanged Lock Nuts on Tie-Rod Bracket U-Bolts so that Tie- Rod Bracket is no longer secured to the Tie-Rod.
