(b) Remove the top, rear filter panel to
gain access to the RF drive splitter/
changeover assembly. Retain the
securing hardware [12 (V5/V3.5) or 14
(V10/V7.5) M5 Phillips screws].
(c) Disconnect all coaxial cables from the
RF drive splitter/changeover assembly
[cables included are W1P2, W2P2 (if
applicable), W3P1 (V10/V7.5 only),
W4P1, W5P1 (V10/V7.5 only) and
W6P1]. Disconnect P74 (8-pin MTA
plug) from A1J3.
(d) Remove and retain hardware that
secures the assembly to the
transmitter (four M5 Phillips head).
(e) Place the suspect RF drive splitter/
changeover assembly on a suitable
workbench for troubleshooting/repair.
NOTE
If an operational RF drive splitter/
changeover assembly is available, it may
be installed in the transmitter while the
defective assembly is being serviced. Refer
to paragraph 5.13.2 to install an RF drive
splitter/changeover assembly. Refer to the
Repair manual to troubleshoot or repair a
defective RF drive splitter/changeover
assembly.
5.13.2 RF Drive Splitter/
Changeover Assembly Installation
Install an operational RF drive splitter/
changeover assembly in the transmitter as
follows:
(a) Reverse the order of steps in
paragraph 5.13.1.
NOTE
All coaxial cables and plugs have tags
near their connectors indicating their
designation and mating information. Use
these tags and the labels on the assembly
as an aid to reinstall the connectors and
coaxial cables removed in step 5.13.1 (b).

(b) Turn ac on at the service entrance and
restore the transmitter to operation.
5.14 IPA SPLITTER ASSEMBLY
FAULT
If prior troubleshooting indicates that the
IPA splitter assembly is the likely source for
a transmitter fault, and further trouble-
shooting of the assembly is desired,
remove the assembly from the transmitter
as follows:
NOTE
For V5/V3.5 transmitters, a defective IPA
splitter assembly cannot be removed for
repair while the transmitter is on-air. Repair
or replace the assembly immediately as a
fault will likely place the transmitter 'off-air'.
For V10/V7.5 transmitters, a defective IPA
splitter assembly (A21 or A22) can be
removed for repair while the operational
IPA splitter assembly allows the transmitter
to operate at reduced power (foldback
threshold, see 5.5.3.2).
5.14.1 IPA Splitter Assembly
Removal
Remove a defective IPA splitter assembly
(A21 or – for V10/V7.5 transmitters – A22)
from the transmitter as follows:
CAUTION
Ensure that the transmitter is OFF and ac
is switched OFF at the service entrance.
(a) Verify the requirements of paragraph
5.14 are complete.
(b) Remove the top, rear filter panel to
gain access to the IPA splitter
assembly(ies). Retain the securing
hardware [12 (V5/V3.5) or 14
(V10/V7.5) M5 Phillips screws].
