    1.4.2 Adapter Set for M12 Connection Technology Using the M12 adapter set, you can connect the PROFIBUS Tester 5 to field devices with M12 connectors. The set comprises an M12 adapter cable with special pin layout and an M12 terminating resistor that you can screw on, if required.

If the PROFIBUS is already disturbed to a certain degree or if Simatic Diagnostic Repeaters are used, the operation of the PROFIBUS might nevertheless be affected occasionally.

    Mount the D-sub connector (male, 9-pin) of the PROFIBUS PA-adapter BC-700-H1 directly to the D-sub connector (female, 9-pin) of the PROFIBUS Tester 5. If applicable, you may need to remove a mounted D-sub adapter cable. Optionally you may fix the PA-adapter to the BC-700-PBby means of the two screws, which are part of the D-sub connector (male, 9-pin).

It detects the cable segment [PA: not available] length, scans for unwanted reflections on the line and verifies proper termination of the cable.

The BC-700-PB always needs an additional external power supply or the internal battery is not installed. Remedy: Use the supplied external AC adapter to connect the tool to the mains power supply.

The more precise you enter the number of connectors and devices into the segment configuration, the more precise the length indication will be (cable segment length or distance to error).

It is not related to logical trigger conditions used for frame recording during protocol analysis. The trigger output is "low active" and allows for triggering an external oscilloscope according to the trigger conditions of the internal oscilloscope functionality (triggering on voltage level or address).
