    Unpacking Remove the unit carefully from its packing. Find the remote control and other accessories. Save the box as it will protect the RSP-1098 if you move or need to return it for maintenance. Placement Place the RSP-1098 on a solid, level surface away from sunlight, heat, moisture, or vibra- tion.

    Zone 2. To configure your system for Zone 2 opera- tion, connect the left and right Zone 2 outputs on the RSP-1098 to the left and right channel inputs of the amplifier powering the remote speakers, using standard RCA audio cables.

    DVD player or other component that sup- plies a Dolby Digital or DTS signal; other- wise the RSP-1098 will not be able to decode these formats. Digital Inputs The RSP-1098 accepts digital inputs from source components such as CD players, satellite TV tuners, and DVD players.

    To use the remote turn on feature, connect one of the RSP-1098’s 12V TRIG OUT jacks to the 12 volt trigger input of a Rotel amplifier, us- ing a cable with mono 3.5 mm mini-plugs on both ends.

    CD (left and right). Optional: Connect the digital output of the CD player to any of the Optical or Coax digital inputs on the RSP-1098. Use the INPUT SETUP screen to assign that digital input to the CD source. There are no video connections for a CD Player.

    Temporary Speaker Level The levels of all channels should be calibrated using the TEST TONE procedure during the initial setup of the RSP-1098. You can make a temporary change in the relative volume of the center, surround, center back, or subwoofer channels using buttons on the remote control or the front panel controls.
