Powering the Device
A complete system can have several components: the control surface, DSP Core, VisTool MK2 and Key Panels:
1.
The system has no on/off switch but starts automatically when
Please install a master system power switch where applicable.
Components can be powered in any order. So, for example, you can begin VisTool operations without power to
the control surface. Remember though that without power to the Core, there is no DSP, no routing matrix and no
control system!
2.
Let's assume that you turn on the master power switch for all system components:
·
You will see an initial flicker of LEDs on the control surface modules.
·
If the Core is POWER CORE, then you will see the boot-up progress on the front panel display and the
STATUS LED lights in white (steady state).
·
As soon as boot-up is complete, the front panel display will show the Welcome page and the STATUS
LED begins to blink at regular intervals.
The console is now ready for operation - this takes approximately 20 seconds from power on.
At the end of boot-up process, the DSP Core loads its warm start data. This is the state of all settings at the last
shut down. It means that when you turn on, you will get back to wherever you were at the last power off.
Please note: if you load a new configuration, or perform a firmware update, then the DSP Core will cold start.
A cold start ignores the warm start data, and resets all internal logic states and audio DSP parameters to the
default values stored in the configuration.
If this is the first time you have powered the DSP Core "out of the box", there will be no configuration and
therefore no settings.

Go to

Firmware Update Tool (SoP Explorer) to check and update the system components.
·
Then, open one of the standard configurations (included in the ON-AIR Designer) or build your own. Use
the "Transfer Config -> Unit" function to load the configuration onto the DSP Core.
These procedures are described in the manual for your DSP Core.
