    The MELAG company recommends the use of cleaning aids such as ultrasonic devices, cleaning and maintenance equipment for handpieces and contra angles, as well as thermo disinfecting systems.

    Do not use metal (mechanical) cooking-pot cleaners or steel brushes for this work. To clean off stubborn spots, the MELAG company recommends the use of cleaning agents especially made for stainless steel (for example, the German product Sidol™ or an equivalent). Cau- tion: When using such agents, make sure that they do not enter the pipes which lead off from the autoclave chamber.

    Contaminated tweezers may also not touch the spore samples. Oth- erwise, the spore substance will be recontaminated. The MELAG company therefore recommends that the tweezers be sterilized together with the spore sample. The positive sample which is not sterilized must be kept separate from the sterilized sample.

    If the test is unsuccessful, check the door gasket and the sealing surface on the chamber, and clean them if required. Then repeat the vacuum test. If the vacuum test is once again unsuccessful, please contact your MELAG dealer, since it is possible that sterilization cycles can no longer be satisfactorily carried out.

    Operate the door contact by hand to check whether the lamp for door open [34] goes out. If the contact is defective, or if it is improperly adjusted, so that the lamp does not go out, get in touch with your MELAG dealer.

    The following error displays are reported on the display and/or as LED notification. If a printer is interfaced, it will print out the malfunction log. Before contacting the MELAG dealer, press the button for malfunction acknowledgment [23], and then repeat the program which you wish to execute.     For proper drying, it is also essential that the textiles be placed dry in the autoclave. If the textiles are origi- nally moist, the heat stored in the chamber and in the sterilization containers will not be sufficient to evapo- rate the condensate produced by the sterilization, plus the moisture originally carried into the autoclave in wet fabrics.
