  • Page 6 Launch t he App menu bar located at the top of the page and the navigation pane at the bottom of the page which includes the f ollowing main f unctions: Tagging: used to assign a Name or ID to a sensor. Connect : used to wirelessly connect to a previously tagged sensor.
  • Page 7 In order to maximize the wireless antenna range, do concrete surf ace. This will increase the range of sensor visibility (especially in the early age). Not e: If steel wires are disconnected f rom each other, the sensor turns of f and memory is cleared. Giatec Scientific Inc.
  • Page 8 Tag The Sensor From the home screen on your smartphone, click on the Tagging key on the screen to go to the tagging page. on the screen. Tip: You should in the of f ice bef ore using them in concrete. For this, you need to activate/deactivate them one by one (in the of f ice) and tag them on the app as they appear on the screen separately.
  • Page 9 Af ter creating the sensor tag, the app will show the list of tagged sensors in the connect page. Not e: Previously tagged sensors will not appear in the Tagging tab. They can be accessed f rom the Connect tab. Giatec Scientific Inc.
  • Page 10 Connect ing t o Sensor a list of tagged sensors is shown. To connect to a sensor, stand within visibility range of the sensor (up to 8 meters if the sensor is installed within 5cm f rom the concrete surf ace) and wait f or the sensor to establish a communication with the smartphone.
  • Page 11 The list of sensors can be ref reshed by dragging down the list while pressing on the screen. Tip: You can delete a tag by long-pressing on the tag name and f ollowing the options on the popup window. Giatec Scientific Inc.
  • Page 12 Dat a Monit oring Af ter the app is connected to the sensor, data will be right of the screen indicates that the data is in real-time. The real-time temperature value will be transmitted to the smartphone and displayed on the screen. In order to see the maturity index and predicted strength of concrete, the user needs to enter the pouring time and select the appropriate strength-maturity relationship...
  • Page 13 Pouring time is the time that concrete is actually placed in the f ormwork and came into contact with the temperature sensor. Enter the pouring date and the time. Follow the procedure to set the date and time. (a) Android (b) iOS Giatec Scientific Inc.
  • Page 14 Add a Mix Calibration In order f or the app to be able to calculate and display the predicted strength, the user has to def ine and select a calibrated mix in the app. The calibrated mix def ines the strength-maturity relationship f or each concrete mixture.
  • Page 15 Temperature history of concrete (cured at room temperature) measured at certain time intervals (minimum of 30 minutes f or the f irst 48 hours, and 60 minutes af terwards). The area under the temperature curve is def ined as the maturity index. Giatec Scientific Inc.
  • Page 16 Add a Mix Calibration - cont inued The relationship between the strength and the logarithm of the maturity index is approximated with a linear equation in the app. The intercept (a) and the slope (b) are calculated by the app f or the input data set. These values will be used to predict the strength of in-place concrete.
  • Page 17 Strength Maturity My Mix My Mix Min / Max Temperature Not e: You can change the display units between metric and imperial f rom the app setting section shown in Step 8. Giatec Scientific Inc.
  • Page 18 View Test Result s - Charts In the View page, the user can monitor the test results in a chart f ormat. The variations of temperature, maturity index and strength will be illustrated as charts. Temperature- Time Maturity Index- Time Strength - Time Click on any point on the chart to see the temperature, maturity index and strength values.
