the instructions carefully before using the appliance for the first time.
Important
Please note that some condensation may occur on the
base of your kettle.This is perfectly normal and by no
means a manufacturing defect.
Depending on the hardness of the water in your area,
small spots may appear on the heating element of your
kettle (even if you have used it only once).This
phenomenon is the result of scale build-up and is perfectly
normal. Scale consists of naturally occurring minerals that
solidify when water is heated and which slowly deposit
over a period of time.This can lead to scale build-up on
the heating element and on the inside of the kettle over
time.The harder the water, the faster scale will build up.
Scale can occur in different colours.Although it may look
like rust, it is not because this kettle has a stainless steel
element.Although scale is perfectly harmless, it can affect
the performance of your kettle if it is left to build up over
a longer period of time. Please follow the instructions for
descaling the kettle in this instruction booklet.
Boiling water can cause serious burns. Please take care when the
kettle contains hot water.
Keep the kettle and its cord well out of the reach of children and
do not let them play with the appliance. Prevent children from
pulling at the mains cord. Do not let the mains cord hang over the
edge of the work surface.
Do not fill the kettle beyond the 'MAX' indication.
WARNING: If the kettle has been overfilled, there is a risk that
boiling water will be ejected from the spout.
This Philips kettle is equipped with a precision boil-control system
that will switch the kettle off immediately after the water has
reached boiling point.
For type HD4673 only
This Philips rapid boil kettle can draw up to 13 Amps from your
power supply. Ensure that your household electrical system can
withstand this consumption.
We advise you to refrain from running too many other appliances
connected to the same circuit while your kettle is in use.
