  • Page 2 Rhodes Mark 7 Active MIDI Series The Active MIDI Series Rhodes Mark VII piano is available in 2 sizes, 73 and 88 key versions. The new Rhodes Active Midi Series pianos now provide the musician with a user friendly and versatile MIDI system that is state of the art.

    Only the RHODES POWER SUPPLY can be used in order for the piano preamplifier and MIDI to function. The IEC / AC Input connector on the power supply can be used with any AC input voltage from 100 VAC to 240 VAC.

    MIDI interface if you are interfacing non-USB MIDI equipment. To control external equipment, like synthesizers or samplers, power up your Rhodes piano and connect the MIDI out jack of the piano to the MIDI IN of your device and/or connect your computer via USB.

    2. EDITING: Pushing the MIDI Data encoder knob toggles between the selecting of parameter and editing of parameter value. This is indicated by a tiny arrow on the right side of the LCD as shown. If the arrow is on the upper line, turning the encoder will select the parameters.

Hard = Velocity with greater levels of dynamics. Soft = Velocity with little dynamic range for loud playing. Medium = Velocity with slightly compressed dynamics.

    9. SETUP AND ADJUSTMENT The Rhodes MIDI System needs to be adjusted for proper operation. The operating system firmware allows easy adjustment and updating of all components. However, to prevent users from changing this sensitive data, access to this service mode is restricted. To enter the service mode, hold down the Data Encoder knob while powering on.

The next screen will look like this∇ Keys down <press> Using the binding of a legal pad, very carefully press groups of keys down very slowly and with as little pressure as possible, until all keys have been pressed. This procedure tells the system where the bottoms of the keys are, and enables it to assign appropriate velocities and aftertouch to each key uniformly.
  • Page 15 XXXX <push> This screen shows the “Sweet Spot” of the Sustain Pedal. This tells the system exactly where your physical Rhodes Piano dampers escape from it’s tines. It is important that your MIDI module sustain function (64) see this release at exactly the same time as your piano’s physical dampers.

    TUNING and ADJUSTMENTS Your Rhodes piano is a hand crafted instrument that is tuned and adjusted by expert technicians at the Rhodes factory. Further tuning or adjustments may be performed by removing the lid screws at the front bottom corners of the piano and lifting the lid.

    2. TUNING Tuning is accomplished by sliding the Tuning Spring located on the tine forward or back to raise or lower the pitch. 3. PICKUP ADJUSTMENT Adjustment of the pickups is accomplished by loosening the pickup screw and sliding the pickup closer or away from the tine. This will increase or decrease the volume level of that note.
