  • Page 5 REPLACEMENT OF CD MECHANISM Note that the mechanism of the CD player is very delicate. is very important that the spindle motor (witch rotates the disc), and the sled motor (which cases the disc signals to be tracked), as well as the gear and other components, operate smoothly, without eccentricity. When handling the pickup, take care not to exert excessive force, and particular care should be taken not to touch the lens or the drive circuit’s P.W.Board pattern.
  • Page 6 REPLACEMENT OF CD MECHANISM c. Replacement and lubrication of the pickup Before replacement of the pickup, be sure to carefully read the section regarding the pickup when the unit is moved or transported. Remove a pickup rail (CM2) with a driver from the bottom of chassis.
  • Page 7 REPLACEMENT OF CD MECHANISM f. Resetting the pickup to the home position (1) The limit switch is switched ON by the projection of this rack gear secured to the returned pickup, after which the sled motor continues to operate (by the circuit) for approximately 30 msec. There is then again a reverse operation, and movement to the position at which the switch is switched OFF.

TAPE ADJUSTMENTS a. Adjusting Azimuth Be sure to clean the heads before attempting to make any adjustment. Be sure both channel’s waveform are the same for the phase matching. Be sure both channels (1 and 2) are the same level using a dual-channel oscilloscope. After completion of the adjustment, apply the threadlock (TB-1401 B) to the azimuth adjustment screws to fix them securely.
