Initial Device Connection - Radware Alteon Installation And Maintenance Manual

To connect to a device through Telnet, use a computer running Telnet software. Before a Telnet
session can be established, the device must have an IP address. The device can only be assigned an
IP address manually during the device configuration process.
Note: To use the management port, the port must be manually configured with a unique IP
address and Telnet access must be enabled (
Establishing an SSH Connection
Although a remote network administrator can manage the configuration of an Alteon device through
Telnet, this method does not provide a secure connection. The SSH (Secure Shell) protocol enables
secure remote login and communication not provided by Telnet. As a secure alternative to using
Telnet to manage device configuration, SSH ensures that all data sent over the network is encrypted
and secure.
