24. Connect all peripheral cables to the server.
25. Connect each power cord to the server.
26. Connect each power cord to the power source.

28. Install the NVMe SSDs.
29. Install the front bezel on page 40.
The installation is complete.
Media device options
The server supports the following media device options in the box 1 bays:
•
Half‑height media bay 1 – SAS LTO tape drive or USB RDX drive
•
Half‑height media bay 2 – USB RDX drive
•
9.5 mm optical drive bay – SATA optical drive
Installing a SAS LTO tape drive
The half‑height media bay 1 supports the installation of a SAS LTO tape drive option.
Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure:
•
Make sure that a Smart Array controller board option is installed.
•
In a server that has the maximum number of drives installed in box 2 and box 3, and the RDX drive is
present in the half-height media bay 2, make sure that the fan cage is installed.
•
Make sure that you have the following items available:

Fan blank
◦
LTO tape drive SAS-power Y-cable
◦
LTO/RDX power extension Y-cable
◦
LTO tape drive option – The SAS and/or power cables that ship with the drive option will not be used in
this server.
◦
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1.
Remove the front bezel on page 39.
2.
Power down the server on page 38.
3.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5.
Do one of the following:
•
Server in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration on page 41.
•
Server in rack mode: Extend the server from the rack on page 43.
6.
Remove the access panel on page 48.
7.
Remove the air baffle on page 50.
8.
If installed, remove the fan cage.
