Mitel 6930 SIP Phone User Guide Welcome The Mitel 6930 SIP IP phone is a premium feature-rich phone with a large color display that delivers graphically rich applications. The Mitel 6930 IP phone provides 12 programmable self-labeling keys allowing up to 44 functions and five intuitive state sensitive softkeys supporting up to 24 functions.

Getting Started The 6930 must be set up and be configured prior to its first use. This section describes phone behavior and start up screens you may see when the phone is first plugged in, or when it is restarted.

Mitel 6930 SIP Phone User Guide The 6930 phone then checks settings and looks for new configuration and firmware updates from a configuration server. This may take a few moments while the phone downloads the latest updates. Note: New updates to your phone can be automatically scheduled from the server. This is set up on the phone system by your System Administrator and should be scheduled during non-business hours or slow call periods.
Getting Started If language packs were loaded to your phone by your System Administrator, the following screen displays during startup. When the configuration update is complete, the phone displays the following screens and then displays the Home screen. Network Connected/Network Disconnected If your phone successfully connects to the network the phone will go directly to the Home screen.

The More softkey is also displayed if you have any configured bottom softkeys. For example, in the previous figure, the 6930 has three softkeys configured that are viewable on the next softkey “page”. Pressing the More softkey toggles between the first and additional “pages” to display all the rest of the configured softkeys (as per the figure below).

Phone Status Phone Status You can view the status of your phone using the IP phone UI or the Mitel Web UI. Phone Status through IP Phone UI The Status option on the IP phone displays the status of your phone to the LCD display.
If you want to access your phone’s options using an Internet browser, you need to enter the IP address of the phone in the browser to open the Mitel Web UI. Use the following procedure to find your phone’s IP address.

IP Phone UI and Web UI Language The IP phones support several different languages. You can have the IP phone UI and the Mitel Web UI display in a specific language as required. When you set the language to use, all of the display screens (menus, services, options, configuration parameters, etc.) display in that language.

Once the language pack(s) are available on your phone from your System Administrator, you can specify which language to use on the phone and/or the Mitel Web UI. Softkey Display Behavior On the 6930 IP phone, you can configure up to 44 (top) and 24 (bottom) functions on the softkeys. By default, if you have no softkeys configured on the IP phone, and you assign softkey functions to higher number keys in the Mitel Web UI, the key functions automatically appear in the first available position on the LCD display.
Note: Line functionality can only be programmed on the top softkeys. The Line 1 and Line 2 softkeys are autoconfigured in the 6930 SIP phone due to the absence of Line 1 and Line 2 hardkeys. By default, the line values for top softkey 1 and topsoftkey 2 are set to Line 1 and Line 2 in the WebUI.
The normal function of the speed dial option allows you to dial a number quickly by pressing a key configured for speed dialing. You can program the keys on the 6930 to speed dial outside numbers, dial directly to another person’s line or extension, or quickly access features such as Caller ID (*69) and voicemail.

Receiving Calls Deflecting an Incoming Call While call forwarding allows you to forward calls to a pre-defined number, and whereby most call transfers requires you to first answer the incoming call, call deflection allows you to manually determine, while a call is incoming, what the destination number should be. You can enter a destination number using the dialpad keys or deflect a call quickly to a programmable key or softkey configured with Speeddial or BLF functionality.
