Your PlayStation 4 requires a power source to be powered on and a device that displays in HDMI. The system can be powered on by connecting the cables that come with your PS4 to the console and the appropriate outlets.
2. Insert the other end of the micro-USB charging cable into the USB Port found on the top of the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. Your PlayStation 4 now recognizes your DS4 as a paired device. Your PS4 is now ready to be powered on.

Now that your PlayStation 4 is connected to an output display and a power source, and the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller is recognized, it is time to power on your PlayStation 4.

The following welcome screen will inform you of the initial set-up process for your PlayStation 4. First you will set-up Internet connection, then you will connect any available PlayStation camera, and finally you will set the date and time.
Your PS4 should now be connected to an available wireless access point and therefore connected to the Internet. The following setup step is to enter the date and time on your PS4. PLAYSTATION

The User Agreement screen contains a scrolling screen of system software terms and licenses that the user must accept. If the user does not wish to accept the terms, the PS4 will not be able to access online software.

4. Press X to load the disc. Your PS4 will now play the software found on the disc. The following steps will cover returning to the home screen during playtime. RETURNING

1. Press and hold the PS button. 2. Select [Close Application]. Your PS4 has now closed the application and quit the software. In order to reload software, you will need to navigate to the software icon found on the PS4’s Content Area menu.
The percentage below the bar will increase from 0% to 100% completion. 5. On the System Software License Agreement page, select [Agree] and press X to continue. Your PS4 will inform you the new update is ready to install. The PS4 is now ready to prepare for installation.
2. Wait for the installation preparations to complete. As the empty preparation bar fills, it will become white. The percentage below the bar will increase from 0% to 100% completion. Upon completion of the preparation installation, PS4 will restart itself. Following the reboot, the console will enter the installation process.

Signing into PlayStation Network (PSN) creates a Sony Entertainment Network account that will contain personal information used for purchasing additional content on the PlayStation Store, and create a personification that will be used online when interacting with other players or communicating with friends.

Previous PlayStation users, such as those with a PlayStation 3, may already have a PSN account. Using an existing account is as easy as entering your old email address and password. The PSN account will retain your previous username.

Access the PlayStation Store to shop online and use your credit card to purchase digital content, including full-retail games, smaller independent games, movies, music, and additional applications such as Netflix.
Make sure your wireless access point is within suitable range and is currently powered on. My PS4 is turning off without my command. The PS4 may be overheating due to a lack of cool air passing through its fans. Make sure the system is in an open, airy space.
Once purchased, users can enter these codes to add funds from the card. Can I use my PlayStation 4 without performing a System Software Update? Yes. As long as the PlayStation 4 is offline, you can play games and movies without updating. However, online content will not work.
