ADJUSTING THE CARBURETOR
See Figures 62 - 64.
WARNING:
The chain will move around the guide bar when
adjusting the idle speed. Wear all protective
clothing and keep all bystanders, children, and
pets at least 50 ft. away. Make adjustments
with the unit supported on a stable surface so
that the chain/guide bar does not contact the

Clean the air filter. Refer to Cleaning the Air
Filter in the Maintenance section of this manual.
Allow the engine to warm up prior to adjustment
of engine idle speed.
WARNING:
Weather conditions and altitude may affect
carburetion. Do not allow bystanders close to
the chain saw while adjusting the carburetor.
Idle Speed Adjustment —The idle speed adjust-
ment controls how much the throttle valve stays
open when the throttle trigger is released. To adjust:
Turn idle speed screw "T" clockwise to increase

Turn idle speed screw "T" counterclockwise to

WARNING:
THE SAW CHAIN SHOULD NEVER TURN AT

Questions and answers
ryobi ry 3716 all most new it will start run maybe a minute then die ?
The Ryobi RY3714 chainsaw starts and runs but dies when given gas, likely due to a fuel or air issue. Possible causes include a clogged carburetor, a dirty fuel filter, an air leak, or improper adjustment of the carburetor’s fuel mixture. The issue suggests the engine is leaning out, meaning it is not getting enough fuel or air for proper combustion. Inspecting and cleaning the carburetor, checking the fuel filter, and ensuring there are no air leaks may help resolve the problem.
