Water can be heard running from the tap when start button is pressed but no watering is being started. Battery is OK. The unit has always operated perfectly so not sure why this has suddenly happened.

The Gardena T 1030 may not be starting watering despite hearing water running from the tap due to one or more of the following reasons:
1. Battery is low or flat: If the battery capacity is too low, a warning signal beeps every 15 seconds, and the timer will not run programmed watering. Also, the valve cannot be opened manually.
2. Battery inserted incorrectly: If the battery is not inserted with the correct polarity, the device will not function.
3. Moisture Sensor or Rain Sensor: If connected, these may detect adequate soil moisture and prevent the watering program from running.
4. Start time not set or reset: If the timer has been reset or the start time is not correctly set, the watering program may not start at the intended time.
5. Water damage: Water entering the unit or battery compartment, as mentioned in one user's experience, may cause the device to malfunction.
In summary, check the battery status and installation, ensure the start time is correctly set, verify sensor settings, and inspect for water damage.
