eXtra Device Port (XDP)
The Digital System Telephone has a special jack, called XDP, to which you can
connect any single line device, including a PC with modem. They may have
different extension numbers (Independent Mode), or share the same one
(Parallel Mode).
• In the Independent Mode, you can, for instance, transmit data while
talking on the phone. Simply put, XDP doubles extension capacity of the
system without any additional cost.
• In the Parallel Mode, you can answer a call from either the Digital
System Telephone or the connected device (e.g., a cordless telephone).
Calls can be transferred easily between the two devices, simply by going
off-hook. When a PC is connected, you can dial from the PC using its
database and talk with the Digital System Telephone by simply lifting the
handset.
If you do not use XDP jack on the Digital System Telephone, it is possible to
install a Single Line Telephone by wiring from the main unit directly as
Independent or Parallel Mode.
