Using NoiseGard

You can activate or deactivate NoiseGard if your headphones are connected to
the smartphone using Bluetooth, a USB cable, or an audio cable (provided that
the battery is sufficiently charged). If you are in a noisy environment but would
like to have your own quiet space, you can use the headphones by themselves,
without cable and disconnected from any device, and simply benefit from
NoiseGard.
The PXC 550 Wireless provides excellent attenuation of ambient noise using
Sennheiser's proprietary NoiseGard technology. The PXC 550 Wireless also
features Adaptive NoiseGard; when Adaptive NoiseGard is selected, active
noise cancellation depends on the intensity of ambient noise. With Adaptive
NoiseGard, active noise cancellation can be strong if the ambient noise is high,
or weak if the ambient noise is low.
