Specific Safety Rules for Grass Trimmers 1. IF YOU ARE NOT thoroughly familiar with using the grass trimmer, obtain advice from a qualified person. 2. MAKE SURE wiring codes and recommended electrical connections are observed. The grass trimmer is double insulated. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.

Assembly and Adjustments UNPACKING (Fig. 1) The grass trimmer is fully assembled except for the guard that must be attached before use. Remove the grass trimmer (1), the guard and the bonus replacement spool (4) from the packaging. NOTE: Do not discard the box or any packing material until all parts have been examined. Fig.

TO AVOID INJURY, ALWAYS TURN THE SWITCH OFF ⁄WARNING: AND DISCONNECT THE GRASS TRIMMER FROM THE POWER OUTLET BEFORE INSTALLING OR CHANGING THE TRIMMER LINE OR MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS.

Assembly and Adjustments - continued Adjust/Replace the Blade (Fig. 3) Two screws (1) secure the line cutting blade (2) to the guard. The blade may be placed on either side of the guard. To replace the blade, remove the screws and insert a new blade. Replace and tighten the screws. THE BLADE IS VERY SHARP.

Assembly and Adjustments - continued Adjust the Cutting Angle (Fig. 6) This trimmer is equipped with a pivoting head. 1. Using your left hand, grip the nose (1) of the trimmer and use your thumb to depress The pivoting head adjustment button (2). Using your right hand, turn the head to either of the 3 available positions.

The Cutting Line (Fig. 8) A double-wound spool of monofilament cutting line is pre-installed on the grass trimmer. When the cutting line needs replacing, install a new spool. Use YARDWORKS 60-2269-6 replacement spools. To remove the spool: 1. Unplug the extension cord.

Assembly and Adjustments - continued To refill the spool (Fig. 9): If you are unable to purchase a new pre-wound spool, you may purchase 0.065” (1.65 mm) nylon monofilament cutting line and refill the spool that was supplied with your grass trimmer. 1.
Operation ON/OFF Switch (Fig. 10) WARNING: TO AVOID INJURY, DO NOT CARRY THE GRASS ⁄ TRIMMER WITH YOUR FINGER ON THE SWITCH. DO NOT PUSH THE LOCK-OFF BUTTON OR SQUEEZE THE SWITCH WHEN THE GRASS TRIMMER IS INVERTED. Turn on the Grass Trimmer (Fig. 10) Squeeze the trigger switch (1) to start.

Operation - continued To lengthen the Line (Fig. 11) While the grass trimmer is operating, the cutting line gets worn down and becomes shorter. This trimmer is equipped with automatic line advancement, which automatically feeds additional line to the correct length as it wears down. 1.

Operation - continued TRIMMER TIPS (Fig. 12) Before each use Make sure the protective guard is tightly installed. Tighten the guard • screws. Before trimming, inspect the area for string, wire, branches, or other • material that may become entangled in the cutting line or thrown. During use Trim only when the grass and weeds are dry.
Keep the vents free of obstruction. Cutting Line Replace the cutting line only with nylon monofilament line on pre-wound spools. Always wind the line in the same direction as the arrow on the spool. Use YARDWORKS 60-2269-6 replacement spools.
