CHECKING THE SPARK PLUG

CHECKING THE SPARK PLUG
1. Remove:
• seat
• left side cover
Refer to "SEAT AND FENDERS".
2. Disconnect:
• spark plug cap
3. Remove:
• spark plug
4. Check:
• spark plug type
Incorrect → Change.
Standard spark plug
NGK/CR8E
5. Check:
• electrode
Wear/damage → Replace.
• insulator
Abnormal color → Replace.
Normal color is a medium-to-light tan color.
6. Clean:
• spark plug
(with a spark plug cleaner or wire brush)
7. Measure:
• spark plug gap
Use a wire gauge or thickness gauge.
Out of specification → Regap.
8. Install:
• spark plug
TIP
Before installing a spark plug, clean the gasket
surface and plug surface.
9. Install:
• spark plug cap
10. Install:
• left side cover and right side cover
• seat
Refer to "SEAT AND FENDERS".
