The record and play buttons on the Jensen MCR-100 may not stay down due to several possible reasons:
1. Tape Protection Tabs: If the square holes (record protection tabs) on the cassette are not properly covered, the recorder will not allow recording. 2. Mechanical Issue: The buttons on this model are described as flimsy, so there could be a mechanical fault preventing them from locking in place. 3. Internal Damage or Wear: If the device is old or has been used extensively, internal components like springs or latches may be worn out or broken. 4. Power Issues: If the device is not receiving adequate power from batteries or the AC adapter, the mechanism may not function correctly.
Checking these factors may help identify and resolve the issue.
