Other chargers may not fully charge the iDEN Lithium Ion battery or may yield a reduced number of lifetime charge cycles.

    Getting Started Status Icons Status icons appear at the top of the display. Some appear at all times. Others appear only when your phone is engaged in certain activities or when you have activated certain features. Battery Strength — A fuller battery abcd indicates a greater charge.

    Making Calls Your i880 phone makes two types of calls: digital cellular phone calls and Private calls. With Private calls, you use your phone as a long-range, digital walkie-talkie. Phone Calls With the Flip Open 1 Enter the number you want to call. 2 To place the call: Press s.

    Tip: To let someone know you want to talk to him or her on a Private call, send a call alert. See “Call Alerts” on page 31. Receiving Calls Phone Calls When you receive a phone call, your phone rings, vibrates, or lights up its backlights.

    Making Calls With the Flip Closed When you make a call with the flip closed, speakerphone is always on. Opening the flip turns speakerphone off. Using Mute Muting calls lets you listen to incoming sound without transmitting sound. Mute is available whenever you are on an active call.

    Call Alerts Sending a call alert lets the recipient know you want to talk to him or her on a Private call. When you send a call alert, the recipient’s phone displays your name. The recipient’s phone emits a series of beeps and the PTT button backlight flashes slowly, or the phone vibrates.

    Entering Text You can enter text, numbers, and symbols into your phone using Alpha, Word, Numeric, or Symbol text input modes. Alpha — Press a key several times for each character. Word — Press a key once for each letter while words likely to be the one you want are chosen from a database.
