FINAL DRIVE
Remove the final shaft/bearing holder assembly
from the gear ease (page 14 25).
Apply
shaft gear teeth.
Reinstall the final shaft/bearing holder assembly
w ith the shim.
Rotate the final shaft counterclockwise several
times.
Remove the shaft/bearing holder assembly and
check the gear tooth contact pattern.
Contact is normal If Prussian Blue is transferred to
the approximate center of each tooth and slightly to
the toe.
If the pattern is not correct, remove and replace the
output shaft shim.
Replace the shim w ith a thinner one if the contact
pattern is too high, toward the face.
Replace the shim with a thicker one if the contact
pattern is too low, toward the flank.
The pattern will shift about 1.5-2.0 mm (0.06- 0.08 in)
when the shim thickness is changed by 0.10 mm
(0.004 in)
OUTPUT SHAFT SHIMS:
0.20 mm (0.008 in)
0.25 mm (0.010 in)
0.30 mm (0.012 in)
0.35 mm (0.014 in)
0.40 mm (0.016 in)
0.45 mm (0.018 in)
0.50 mm (0.020 in)
0.55 mm (0.022 in)
0.60 mm (0.024 in)
