menu.
Insert needle correctly as described, see Changing the
Needle, page 31.

Correct Thread/Needle Combination, page 34.
Check that all plugs are securely inserted into the machine
and the wall socket.
Use only accessories designed for your DESIGNER EPIC™
machine.
Follow the on-screen recommendations.
The sockets and function buttons on the machine can be
sensitive to static electricity. If the screen does not respond to
touch, turn the machine OFF and then ON again. If the
problem persists, contact your authorized HUSQVARNA
VIKING® retailer.
The sound is not an indication of malfunction. The machine
is equipped with a pulsating needle piercing feature that helps
the needle to penetrate heavy and/or dense fabrics. The
sound is caused when the presser foot and fabric lift with the
needle. Increase the presser foot pressure to prevent the foot
from lifting.
If the sound does not seem to be related to the pulsating
needle piercing feature, contact your authorized
HUSQVARNA VIKING® retailer for service.

The Viking Designer EPIC has the EXCLUSIVE SENSOR SYSTEM™ technology, which automatically senses and adjusts for fabric thickness to ensure even feeding. However, there is no mention of a dedicated stitch regulator for free-motion quilting.

To use the stretch stitch on the Viking Designer EPIC:

1. Go to the JoyOS Advisor™ on the machine.
2. Select the type of fabric—choose "Stretch Medium" if that's what you're using.
3. Select the type of sewing—choose "Seam" if sewing a seam.
4. The machine will automatically:
- Pick the correct stretch stitch.
- Adjust the stitch length.
- Set the correct presser foot pressure.
- Adjust thread tension if needed.
- Recommend using a size 90 stretch needle.

Then, attach the correct presser foot and start stitching. The selected stretch stitch is reinforced and will stretch without popping.
