Best way to start a cold Yanmar "GM
To start a cold Yanmar 2GM20 engine:
1. Set the throttle to about half. In colder conditions, full throttle may be needed.
2. Before starting, pull out the stop cable and crank the engine for about 5 seconds to circulate oil.
3. Avoid over-cranking to prevent water intake.
4. Do not use Easystart spray unless absolutely necessary.
Note: The 2GM20 has no glow plugs, so cold starts can be more difficult.
