Overview

You can use external storage media to make storage updates. Currently HP supports the following update devices and
media:

IDE hard disk
•
RS232 server (via RS232)
HP recommends using the IDE hard disk method because it updates at a faster speed.
NOTE:
This chapter describes how to update the flash memory with these two methods and related tools.

IDE Update

This method can update the flash memory with an IDE disk.
Dependency:
•
IDE hard disk.
•
Bootloader that supports IDE disk updating. (All PL4260N and PL5060N models have this type of boot loader.)

Preparing the IDE Hard Disk

The IDE hard disk must be updated by technical engineers who clearly know how to perform this procedure. You may
