  • Page 12: Chapter 2 Key Benefits

High integrity, compact size, easy installation, and cost effectiveness Natural heat dissipation and low noise 2.2 Soft BTS The RRU3606 cascades with the Huawei BBU3900 to realize flexible networking. As a soft BTS, the RRU3606 has the following features. 2.2.1 Synchronization with the Network By adopting the automatic delay compensation technology developed by Huawei, the BBU3900 provides clock signals to the RRU3606 through optical fibers.
  • Page 13: Softer Handoff

RRU3606 CDMA Base Station Product Description 2.2.2 Softer Handoff An RRU3606 can cascade with other RRU3606s. Cells covered by the RRU3606 can be two neighbor cells. As the RRU3606 uses the baseband resources of the BBU3900, the intra-band handoff between the cascaded RRU3606s is a kind of softer handoff, which can better ensure call quality.

Each subscriber is an interference source to other subscribers.
  • Page 22: Reverse Power Control

RRU3606 CDMA Base Station Product Description The CDMA2000 1X system supports high-speed data services, which has high requirements on forward power control. The forward fast power control can accurately control the transmit power of forward channels. As a result, the interference is minimized and the capacity increases.
  • Page 23: Soft Handoff

RRU3606 CDMA Base Station Product Description 4.2.1 Soft Handoff The soft handoff occurs between neighbor cells that operate on the same frequency and belong to different BTSs. The two BTSs can belong to the same BSC, or two different BSCs connected with each other with A3/A7 interface. In the soft handoff procedure, the MS maintains the connection with the previous cell till it establishes the communication with the new cell.
  • Page 24: Channel Configuration

RRU3606 CDMA Base Station Product Description Each RC supports traffic channels of different data rates. The capability of the CDMA2000 1X system varies with RCs. For example, the CDMA2000 1X system with RC1 and RC2 is compatible with IS-95A/B. 4.4 Channel Configuration A series of physical channels are defined on the Um interface.
  • Page 25: Reverse Channels

RRU3606 CDMA Base Station Product Description Forward fundamental channel (F-FCH) F-FCH carries traffic information between the MS and the BTS/DBS. Forward Supplemental Channel (F-SCH) F-SCH carries traffic information between the MS and the BTS/DBS. It is applicable to RC3, RC4, and RC5. 4.4.2 Reverse Channels Reverse channels include reverse common channels and reverse dedicated channels.
