  • Page 3: About The Tlx

The TLX connects to a laptop computer’s RS-232 port via a 9-pin to RJ-11 RS-232 cable and uses 24 Vac power. The TLX kit (P/N 563-006) includes the TLX, antenna, power cable, and 24 Vac transformer.
  • Page 4: Starting The Tlx

Place the TLX within communication range of the WFLN. • Connect the TLX to a laptop computer and plug in the power cable (see Figure 2). If needed, terminate the power cable wires for the TLX power connector as follows: E=green, H=red, N=black.

Reboots the device. Command Syntax For most of the TLX commands, you can apply the command specifically to the TLX, FPX, or FLNX. For example: CONFIG TLX, CONFIG FPX, CONFIG FLNX #. When querying an FLNX, you can use either the FLN device address (drop 0 to 98) or the device Ember User Identification Number (EUID).

Wireless Transceiver Tool (TLX) (For WFLN Version 1) Performing Network Checkout After you set up the WFLN, use the TLX to check WFLN configuration and verify robust communications. Table 4 lists good results for each command. Table 4. Network Checkout Summary.

LQI commands. Scanning for Devices (SCAN) Always start a TLX session with the SCAN command. The TLX scans the WFLN for devices and establishes sequenced messaging connections to the devices. A scan report shows which FPX and FLNXs are currently powered up, have the same Channel and Network ID settings, and are able to communicate wirelessly with the TLX.
  • Page 10 ---- Wireless FLN Node Scan Completed ---- Figure 3. Example Results from the TLX SCAN Command. When using an EUID with a TLX command, a partial EUID can work as well as entering the entire EUID. For details, see the Command Syntax section.

  • Page 12: Checking Node Bindings (Binding)

Use the BINDING command to view which devices are communicating with the node and check that the Node Binding table is correct. Each in-use binding table entry is listed in the order that the TLX receives it. The BINDING FPX command is especially useful for verifying that the FPX has established bindings (wireless communication links) with each of the FLNXs on the WFLN.

  • Page 14: Viewing Cost Values (Cost)

Viewing Cost Values (COST) Use the COST command to view total cost values for the message paths between a node and the TLX, FPX, and/or FLNXs. A cost value of 1 is the lowest and best value; although cost values of 5 can still indicate good communication.

Wireless Transceiver Tool (TLX) (For WFLN Version 1) Clearing Diagnostic Count Values (CLEAR) You can use the CLEAR command to reset the diagnostic count values, shown in the diagnostic summary, to zero. It is recommended that you do this after the wireless system has been fully commissioned and checked out.
