Not using the mounting plate can affect read performance at elevated temperatures. Also, if not using

To mount the unit without using the mounting bracket:
Use the mounting bracket as a template to locate the holes, or locate and mark the holes on 4 3/16" centers,

For wood surfaces, drill two 1/8" diameter by 7/8" deep holes on 4.192" centers. For drywall/masonry surfaces,
