Installation Instructions

Step-by-step instructions from out-of-the-box factory
firmware
DD-WRT can be flashed directly on the D-Link DIR-868L by using the D-Link web interface:
1.
Navigate to this page, select year, scroll down to the last link and select it, select dlink-dir868l-revc.
Now download the firmware file (dir868c-webflash.bin).
2.
Open the D-Link web-interface in your web browser (address: http://192.168.0.1), Log In, and go to
Tools -> Firmware *Warning: only flash over an Ethernet-cable
3.
Select factory-to-ddwrt.bin and click the "Upload"-button
4.
After flashing successfully, the router address should be changed into http://192.168.1.1
5.
Upgrade the router (again) by using the dir-868-webflash.bin firmware
Note: The router doesn't support Hard Reset (aka 30/30/30 reset), use the Erasing NVRAM method
instead.
How to restore to factory firmware
Also works if you bricked your router.

1.
Download the stock firmware at

2.
Set your computers IP manually to 192.168.0.2 with a standard subnet of 255.255.255.0. (like this on
Windows).
3.
Unplug all cables (incl. power cable) from the router
4.
Insert a paper clip onto the hidden reset button located on the bottom of the device; you'll find it.
5.
Keep holding down the reset button as you plug in the power cable. Wait atleast 10 seconds until you
release the paper clip.
6.
Connect your computer to the first LAN port.
7.
Navigate to 192.168.0.1 and upload the firmware you downloaded earlier. The router will flash it and
reboot automatically.
8.
Now set your computer IP to automaticly detect, navigate to your gateway and login.
9.
Navigate to Tools - System and Restore Factory Settings.
