    • You cannot use this remote control to operate the VDR. To operate the VDR, use the remote control supplied with your VDR. • Buttons shown in half tone color are used for operating a JVC DVD player. If these buttons do not function normally, use a remote control supplied with your DVD player.

    “DIMMER OFF” to confirm the setting you make on the display. • When selecting DVD or DVD MULTI as a source using the remote control, DIMMER will only function if you are using a JVC DVD player. To dim the display and indication on the receiver, select a source except DVD or DVD MULTI on the remote control, and then press DIMMER.

    Speaker settings To obtain the best possible surround effect from Surround/DSP modes (see pages 28 to 33), you need to set up the speaker and subwoofer information after all the connections are completed. You can set the speaker information using one of the following three methods. Smart Surround Setup: Set the speakers information automatically by one simple action—clapping hands.

The distance from your listening point to the speakers is one of the important element to obtain the best possible surround sound for the Surround modes.

    Creating realistic sound fields Reproducing theater ambience In a movie theater, many speakers are located on the walls to reproduce impressive multi-surround sound, reaching you from all directions. With these many speakers, sound localization and sound movement can be expressed. Surround/DSP modes built in this receiver can create almost the same surround sound as you can feel in a real movie theater.
  • Page 33 DTS** DTS is another digital signal compression method, developed by Digital Theater Systems, Inc., and enables multi-channel encoding and decoding. DTS Digital Surround is another discrete 5.1 channel digital audio format available on CD, LD, and DVD software. Compared to Dolby Digital, the DTS Digital Surround format has a lower audio compression rate, which enables it to add breadth and depth to the sounds reproduced.
