Safety switch-off of the cooking
zones
If you forget to switch off a cooking zone, it is auto-
matically switched off after a certain period.
If the safety switch-off function was activated, "
shown in the display if the temperature of the cook-
ing zone does not exceed 60°C.
"H" is shown in the display if the residual heat is
above 60°C (see "Residual heat display").

The locking key enables you to completely
lock the appliance so that no accidental set-
tings can be made.
1. Press the On/Off button
2. Press the locking key The corresponding indica-
tor lamp is switched on.
Switch off the child-proofing function before you
switch off the appliance. If you do not switch off the
safety lock before switching off the hob, the safety
lock will still be active when you switch on the hob
again.
No other controls can be operated until you switch
off the safty lock.

Locking the cooking zones
If one or more cooking zones are switched
on, you can block them to prevent the set-
tings which have been made accidentally
being adjusted.
If the cooking zone is switched on and if the heating
power has been selected, press the locking key
The locking system is activated: The corresponding
indicator lamp is switched on.
When the controller is locked:
• The settings can not be changed;
• The cooking zones and the controller can only be
switched off with the aid of the On/Off button.

Cooking with the automatic heating-
up function.
All four cooking zones of the hob have nine heat set-
tings and are equipped with an automatic heating-up
function.
– !, lowest heat setting
– ), highest heat setting
– a, automatic warm up function.
With the heating-up function (a), the cooking zone
operates for a certain time at full power and auto-
matically switches back to the heat setting selected.
The duration of the automatic heating-up boost
depends on the selected further cooking stage.
1. Select the required cooking zone with the cook-
ing zone sensor keys. The decimal point in the
associated display field illuminates. Set the cook-
ing stage ) with the + or --sensor fields. Then
press the +-sensor field again. a now lights up
in the cooking stage display.
2. Next, press the sensor field - and set to the
required continued cooking stage „ to (. The
cooking setting chosen is then displayed. After
5 seconds, a appears again in display instead of
the heat setting.
The heat setting is displayed again at the end of the
automatic warm up time.
If you select a higher setting during the

Automatic function, e.g. from § to %, allow-
ance is made for the previous heating-up
time. If you select a lower stage, the Auto-
matic function is ended immediately. If you
start cooking again on a cooking zone that is
still warm, the automatic warm up function
uses the residual heat. This saves time and
energy.
If the pan is removed from the cooking zone

during the heating-up boost, the heating-up
boost is interrupted until a pan is put back
down (if the interruption does not last longer
than 10 minutes).
