Before Initial Use
I Insert the batteries

Turn off the unit and position your thumbs on the arrows on the battery com-
partment cover located on the bottom of the unit. Push the cover in the direc-
tion of the arrows to remove the cover.

Insert the two attached AAA size batteries and make sure that their poles
(+ and -) are correctly aligned.

Install the battery cover again.
I Reset machine

Press Reset on the bottom of the unit.

Open the machine cover and adjust the display angle for the best visibility.

Use the Contrast Adjustment dial on the right side of the unit to adjust the
display contrast.

    Basic Operations I Turn power on/off Press the key to turn on the unit. The screen viewed the last time will appear (resume function). In another way, press any of the following keys: to turn on the unit. The initial screen of the chosen dictionary or related function will appear.

  • Page 9 How to search (e.g. using the Chinese-Japanese Dictionary) With the Chinese-Japanese dictionary, you can conduct a search using pinyin (Chinese pronunciation), Chinese characters, Japanese pronunciations, the radical stroke count or the total stroke count.
