    Safety Please read this instruction book before using the appliance and retain for future reference. These warnings are provided in the interests of your safety, ensure you understand them fully before using the appliance. Intended use ¥ The appliance is intended for use in the home. It is suitable for the cooling, freezing and storing of frozen food, as well as for making ice.

    Service ¥ Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious malfunctioning.     Warning! Before disposing of old appliances make them inoperable. Remove plug from mains, sever the power cable, remove or destroy any snap or latch closures, to prevent small children being trapped inside. ¥ Use an authorised disposal site.     Correct positioning of foods For physical reasons, different temperature zones are formed inside the refrigerator compart- ment. The coldest zone is on the bottom shelf, just above the fruit and vegetable contai- ners. The warmest zones are the top shelves and the door shelves.

    Defrosting Refrigerator The refrigerator automatically defrosts every time the motor compres- sor stops, during normal use. The defrost water drains out through a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, over the motor compressor, where it evaporates. Freezer The freezer compartment, however, will become progrssively covered with frost.

    Switching off the appliance To switch off the appliance, turn the temperature regulator to position "0" or disconnect from the electricity supply. If the appliance is not going to be used for an extended period: Remove all refrigerated and deep-frozen packages as well as ice trays.

    Rear spacers Fit the rear spacers contained in the documentation bag to ensure even dissipation of heat genereted during operation. Proceed in the sequence illustrated by the numbers in figures. AEG68 AEG69 Levelling the appliance Place the appliance on a flat hard floor.
  • Page 21 Proceed as follow: Remove the plastic cover from the bottom hinge. Unscrew the bottom hinge and remove the freezer compart- ment door pulling downwards. Re-tighten the screws. Remove the screw masking plugs from the bottom left- hand side and refit them on the right-hand side.
  • Page 22 Remove the door handles. To do this turn the pins anti- clockwise by a 1/4 turn with a screwdriver and remove them. Turn the handles as shown in figures and refit them on the opposite side. Reinsert the pins and secure by turning them clockwise by a 1/4 turn.
