STARTING
_NEVER
RUN ENGINE INDOORS OR IN ENCLOSED, POORLY
VENTILATED
AREAS. ENGINE EXHAUST CONTAINS CAR-
BON MONOXIDE, AN ODORLESS AND DEADLY GAS (CAR-
BON MONOXIDE IS ALSO PRESENT IN ENGINE EXHAUST
FROM LIQUID PETROLEUM (LPG) AND NATURAL GAS FUEL
SYSTEMS).

KEEP HANDS, FEET, HAIR AND LOOSE CLOTHING AWAY
FROM ANY MOVING PARTS ON ENGINE AND EQUIPMENT.

OF MUFFLER AND NEARBY
AREAS MAY EXCEED 1500F (650(:). AVOID THESE AREAS.

Move engine control (see Figure 1) to HI Position.

START ENGINE:
A. The carburetor on your engine has been oompletely adjusted
at the factory. For each initial steal, push pdmer bulb firmly
with your thumb 5 times, allowing pdmer bulb to rstum
completely to original position between pushes. Repeat the
above for each starter operation as necessary.
NOTE:
DO NOT USE PRIMER TO RESTART A WARM
ENGINE AFTER A SHORT SHUTDOWN.
B. Grasp starter handle (see Figure 3) and pull rope out, slowly,
until it pulls slightly harder. Let rope rewind slowly. Then pull
ropewith a rapidfull arm stroke. Let rope rewind SLOWLY. Do
not letstarter handle snap backagainst rope guide (see Figure
3).
C. Repeat instructionsS if necessary, until engine starts.
NOTE:
If engine does not start, repeat instructions A, B and
C until it starts.
STOPPING

AFTER ENGINE

DISCONNECT SPARK PLUG WIRE FROM SPARK PLUG
AND ATrACH IT TO RETAINING POST (see Figure 5).

OIL:
Change oil after first two (2) operating hours and every 25
operating hours thereafter, more often if operated in extremely
dustyor dirtyconditions.Change oilwhile engine issfillwarm from
recent running.

AND ATrACH IT TO RETAINING POST (see Figure 5).

B. Positionequipment an engine oildrain plug is lowest point on
engine.
C. Remove oil drain plug and oil fill plug to drain oil (see Figure
1).
D. Replace oil drain plug and tighten securely.
E. Fill oilsursp with recommended oil. See "OIL & FUEL REC-
OMMENDATIONS" and "CHECK OIL LEVEL" on Page 1.
F. Replace oil fillplug and tighten securely.
G. Connect spark plug wire to spark plug.
H. Wipe up any spilled oil and/or gasoline.
NOTE:
If if is difficult to reach the oil drain plug, drain fuel.
Remove oil fillplug and tip mower on itsside. Drain oil
into a suitable container.

AIR CLEANER

NEVER RUN ENGINE WITHOUT COMPLETE AIR CLEANER

Replace filteronce a year or more often if used in extremely dusty
or dirty conditions.

proceed as follows:
A.
Turn cover to the right (clockwise) to remove it end remove
paper filter from flange. Discard filter.
B.
Clean cover and flange thoroughly.
C.
Insert new paper filter into cover.
D.
Line up tabs on cover with slots on flange.
E.
Push cover firmly against flange and tum it to the left
(counterclockwise)untilcover lockssecurelyin place. Cover
should be in vertical position.
