Cisco ANA Overview
Cisco Active Network Abstraction (ANA) provides service providers (SPs) and other carrier-grade network operators with a
comprehensive solution for network element and service management. Cisco ANA is a comprehensive solution that includes
automated service activation, discovery, monitoring, event de-duplication, and root-cause analysis. Cisco ANA supports all major
Cisco SP network elements, as well as a wide variety of network technologies including Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS),
Carrier Ethernet, and Unified Radio Access Network (RAN) Backhaul reference architectures.

New in Cisco ANA Release 3.7.1
Carrier grade: Introduction of topology visualization for Carrier Ethernet and Unified RAN Backhaul network that reduces time to
troubleshoot network problems. Together with near real-time network and event discovery, Cisco ANA provides an all-inclusive
set of Carrier Ethernet and RAN Backhaul management functions unmatched in the industry.
Simplified management of Cisco networks: Introduction of configuration management and image management with ANA
exclusive Cisco IOS XR package management capabilities, continual enhancements of fault management, and technology
support, including introduction of carrier-grade network address translation (NAT); up-to-date support of all major Cisco service
provider devices.
Lower total cost of ownership: Tuned for large SPs offering Metro Ethernet services and operating RAN Backhaul networks
with 60 percent increase in Carrier Ethernet scale; simplification in system installation and administration.
Increased extensibility: Introduction of virtual network element (VNE) and activation customization, in addition to the rich set of
customization tools including Command builder, Soft Properties, Workflow, and new ANA Technology Center facilitate extension,
customization, and integration.
