Loading Discs into the Disc Magazine
Each of the five disc magazines can hold a maximum of 100 discs
each. Slots are available to help guide the discs into place. Follow
these steps to load the discs into the disc magazine:
1. Remove the green shipping plates (large green handles) located
in the center of each disc magazine. See Figure 3-7, Shipping
Plate Insertion and Removal.
2. Set the disc magazine on its back with the disc guides facing up.
3. Place discs in each of the slots. Start loading the discs from the
bottom of the magazine and work toward the top. The label side
of the disc must face the top of the magazine. (The top is the sur-
face with the warning label on it.) Hold a disc at the edge and line
it up with the slots. When properly aligned, push the disc into the
slot until it clicks into place. See Figure 3-8, Disc Insertion and
Removal. (A Disc Setting Tool is available from Pioneer.)
CAUTION: Follow disc installation and removal procedures
specified by the system application. There are no disc sensors
at individual disc storage locations, so disc presence must be
managed in memory. Make sure that the discs do not cross
over into another slot. To avoid mis-insertion, do not insert or
remove discs while the magazine is mounted in the changer.
The elevator must be at the bottom position when magazines
are inserted or removed. Failure to follow these instructions
may result in physical damage to the unit and to discs.
NOTE: Load discs label side up or a disc read error will occur.
4. Replace the shipping plate. Insert shipping plates before mov-
ing a magazine with discs loaded to ensure that discs do not
fall out. The shipping plates must be removed from the disc
magazines for normal operation of the DRM-5004X. They can
be stored inside the front door recess. See Figure 3-9, Storing
Shipping Plates.
CAUTION: Do not transport the magazines with discs inside.
If a magazine must be moved short distances with discs inside,
use the shipping plate. Never ship the magazine with discs
inserted and never ship the unit with magazines inside.
