TROUBLESHOOTING
NOTES
4-1.
TEST JIG.
A test jig for use with SONY cameras is shown
in Fig. 4-1.
This jig accommodates
CVC-2000-
Series cameras and will also accept the CVC-
2100A camera with the adaptor shown in the
detail.

DIRECT MONITOR CONNECTIONS
Direct monitor connections are useful when
making adjustments on the camera.
The most
convenient way to connect the camera directly
to the monitor is by means of the cable shown
in Fig. 4-2.
This cable plugs into the VIDEO
and RF OUT connector on the camera,
and the
camera should be switched to the VIDEO mode
of operation.
This hookup is particularly con-
venient for troubleshooting because the verti-
eal oscillator in the camera is synchronized
by the power frequency and your scope can be
set for LINE SYNC.
Note:
all output cables from the camera
should be terminated in 75 ohms.
If CVM-2300U,
CVM-180U,
CVM-220U or late model
CVM-
51 UWP monitors are used,
set the termination
angle brackets
Fig.
switches on these monitors to ON.
In this case
the terminating resistor in the test cable may
be omitted.

VIDEO CHECKS
The following tests will help to localize troubles in
the video system.
a. Set up the camera with a monitor.
b. Turn on the camera and check the video
output.
If the output signal contains sync
and blanking but no video, trouble is local-
ized to the video circuits or the vidicon it~
self.
. To localize the loss of video to the vidicon or
the video amplifiers, place your finger near
the target lead at the extreme lower left of
the V board.
If the video section is working,
you will see a herringbone-type interference
pattern on the screen of the monitor.
This
localizes trouble to the vidicon itself.
Ifthe
pattern is not produced, trouble is localized
to the video amplifier section.
