Note: During operation, steam may rise from the appliance and loud bubbling noises may
be heard. This is perfectly normal.
Cleaning, Care & Maintenance
Before cleaning and maintenance, always turn off the appliance, disconnect it
from the power supply, and let it cool sufficiently.
Check all connections monthly and ensure all connections are secure and have

no leakage. Or danger of burning may occur!
Use warm, soapy water and a damp cloth to clean the exterior of the appliance.
DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or pads.
Dry thoroughly after cleaning.

Emptying the appliance

In case the appliance will not be used for an extended period of
time, empty it thoroughly.
1. Turn off the water supply.
2. Remove the cap from the drain outlet and let water flow into a
suitable container.
3. Re-locate the cap in place afterwards.
Descaling
In hard water areas limescale can build up within the appliance after prolonged use. For best taste and
extended appliance life, Buffalo recommend this appliance is descaled every 3-6 months. Failure to
descale or maintenance will invalidate your guarantee. To descale, follow the instructions on Page 50.
Changing the water filter cartridge
Note: For the best water quality and prolonging the life of the appliance
particularly in hard water areas, Buffalo recommend changing the filter
every 6 months.
1. Turn off the cold water supply to the filter head.
2. Disconnect the Filter Assembly from the head (1), by pushing up and turning
anticlockwise until the Filter Assembly is ejected from the filter head.
3. Unscrew cap (2) and remove old filter cartridge (3) by twisting and pulling off
the filter mount (4).
4. Wash the housing (5) and filter mount (4) with warm water and a little washing
up liquid. Rinse thoroughly.
5. Remove all protective film and fit the new filter cartridge refill (ordering code:
AP557) by twisting into filter mount (4). Replace and tighten cap (2).
6. Connect the Filter Assembly to the filter head (1), by pushing down and turning
clockwise until the Filter Assembly is connected.
7. Open the cold tap. Run water for 5-10 seconds then close tap and check for
leaks. In any found, check, reseal or tighten joint where leaks found.
8. For best performance, run for 5 seconds before use.
