WHEN TAPE MOVEMENT STOPS AUTOMATICALLY
If trouble occurs during tape movement or to the mecha-
nism inside the VCR, a safety device works to stop the ope-
ration of the VCR automatically. This prevents damage to
the VCR and the tape. If this occurs the ALARM indicator
will be shown in the display and the power will be turned
off automatically.
STOP indicator flashes
Press the POWER button. The display will stop flashing and
the VCR will turn on again. This can also happen if there is
moisture on the head drum assembly inside the VCR. If this
occurs, the safety mechanism will also prevent the VCR
from being operated.
If moisture is present on the cylinder head (condensation).
the VCR cannot be operated. Remove the video cassette
and turn the VCR OFF. And wait a few hours. Then, insert
the video cassette and try to operate again.
This VCR has a HUMI DITY REDUCTION SYSTEM, which
operates only when the power cord is plugged into an elec-
trical outlet and the VCR is turned off. It is suggested that
the power cord be kept connected to an electrical outlet
during winter and other months of HIGH HUMIDITY to
protect the device from MOISTURE, unless you will be
away for a long period of time.
NOTE:
Video head cleaning
.
The video heads are the means by which the VCR places
pictures onthetape duringrecording, and reads pictures from
the video cassette during play back. If they become dirty
from long use, the signals wi II no longer be recorded cor-
rectly and the playback picture will deteriorate accordingly.
For example, this may be the case if the picture duirng play-
back is of very poor quality.
If the above happens, contact your nearest NEC dealer for
assistance.
Cleaning of video and audio heads is a customer's responsi-
bility and is not covered under the terms of the warranty.
Always use quality tapes to reduce the frequency of clean-
ing.
Cleaning the VCR cabinet
.
Wipe the VCR with a clean, dry cloth. Never use cleaning
fluids, chemicals or wax.
