    C6230 WiFi Cable Modem Router Front Panel LEDs and Buttons You can use the LEDs to verify status and connections. The following buttons are located on the front of the cable modem router: Table 1. Cable modem router rear panel The back panel contains the following components: 1. USB port. Use the USB port to connect a USB storage device to the cable modem router.

If you are unable to activate your Internet service using the instructions on your cable Internet provider’s website, call your cable Internet provider for support.

    C6230 WiFi Cable Modem Router Connect to the Network You can connect to the cable modem router’s network through a wired or WiFi connection. If you set up your computer to use a static IP address, change the settings so that it uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Wired Connection You can connect your computer to the cable modem router using an Ethernet cable and join the cable modem router’s local area network (LAN).

You can set up a DMZ (demilitarized zone) server, change the maximum transmit unit (MTU) size, and enable the cable modem router to respond to a ping to its WAN (Internet) port.

UPnP devices can automatically discover the services from other registered UPnP devices on the network. If you use applications such as multiplayer gaming, peer-to-peer connections, or real-time communications such as instant messaging or remote assistance (a feature in Windows XP), enable UPnP.

This password is not the one that you use for WiFi access. The cable modem router label shows your unique WiFi network name (SSID) and password for WiFi access.
