GETTING STARTED

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Charge the Battery until it is fully charged.
  2. Clean all the parts and accessories (see "Care and Cleaning" section).
  3. Remove all packaging materials, if present.

NOTE: Some dust may be on the product. This is due to the recycled materials used in packaging. This can be cleaned with a soft towel.

BATTERY CHARGING

USING THE USB CABLE

  1. Attach the USB Cable to the adapter. Connect the other end of the USB Cable to the Battery.
  2. Plug the adapter into a power source.

USING THE DOCKING STATION (OPTIONAL)

  1. Attach the USB cord to the adapter.
  2. Plug the adapter into a power source.
  3. Turn the Battery upside down and slide the Battery onto the dock.
  4. Press down and the latch will snap into place.
  5. Upon initial plugging in the Battery into the charger, the Battery LEDs will alternate for a few seconds as it performs a self-diagnostic of the Battery status.
  6. After diagnostic is complete, the Battery will begin charging with a single LED flashing. LEDs will become solid in color as charging progresses. Battery is fully charged when all LEDs are solid.

NOTE: Should initial alternating light pattern continue for more than 10 seconds, the Battery may be too warm or too cold to charge. Unplug Battery and allow it to stabilize to a normal room temperature and try charging again. Should Battery still not charge after this, unplug Battery and contact customer service.

When Battery has only 10% Battery level, 1 LED start to flash at rate of 1 second ON/1 second OFF (0.5 Hz).

Full charge: The Battery will be fully charged in approximately 3 hours.
NOTE: LED Legend Indication:
= ON
= OFF
= FLASH

NOTE: When the Battery is installed or when the appliance is operated, the Battery charge status LEDs will display for 5 seconds and then turn off. If the Battery charge is 10% or less, the indication light will continue to flash until the unit is no longer in use or Battery is removed.

NOTE: It is best to store the Cordless Blade Grinder at room temperature.

PRODUCT USAGE

NOTE: Make sure the Battery is fully charged before using.

To Use Blade Coffee Grinder:

  1. Make sure the inside of the top cover is free of coffee grinds or residue.
  2. Place the bowl in the grinder base until it is seated properly.
  3. Fill the bowl to the desired amount of beans up to the MAX fill line.
  4. Place the top cover onto the bowl and twist clockwise (right) to lock. The top cover will click when locked into place.
    NOTE: Make sure both cover and bowl are in position; otherwise, the Coffee Grinder will not operate.
  5. Insert the Battery on the Battery slot located at the back of the appliance, making sure it is aligned. The LED will light and display the Battery level for five seconds, then turn off.
  6. Press down on the button to start processing. For optimum grinding results, do not pulse the top button.
    Continue grinding until all the beans are ground to the desired consistency.
  7. To stop processing, release the button.
  8. Wait until the blade has stopped rotating and remove top cover.
  9. Remove bowl from the Motor Housing.
  10. Pour out ground coffee. A scraper may be needed to remove residual coffee grounds from the bowl.

NOTE: If coffee grounds stick to sides of bowl, use a utensil to remove grounds from bowl when appliance is off and avoid fingers coming into contact with the blade.

NOTE: The coffee grinder cup is not intended to grind spices.

CARE AND CLEANING


Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

  1. Always remove the battery from the Coffee Grinder before cleaning.
  2. Remove the bowl and top cover. Wash in hot, soapy water, rinse, and dry. Bowl and top cover can also be washed in the dishwasher (top rack only). After removing from the dishwasher, allow to cool before reassembling.
  3. Wipe the Motor Housing clean with a damp, soft cloth.
    NOTE: Do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not immerse the Motor Housing in water.
  4. Reassemble your Coffee Grinder after cleaning.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:


  1. Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in fire and/or serious injury.
  2. shock hazard To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put the Blade Coffee Grinder, USB Adapter, USB Cable, or Battery in water or other liquid.
  3. This appliance is not intended for use by children or by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  4. Turn the appliance off ( ), remove the Battery when not in use, before assembling or disassembling parts and before cleaning.
  5. Avoid contacting moving parts.
  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged Battery or charger or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest Authorized Service Center for examination, repair or adjustment.
  7. If the Battery is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

    The use of accessories/attachments not recommended or sold by the KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  9. Keep hands and utensils away from moving blade while grinding food to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the Blade Coffee Grinder. A scraper may be used only when the Blade Coffee Grinder is not running.
  10. Blade is sharp. Care should be taken when emptying the bowl and during cleaning.
  11. Be certain cover is securely locked in place before operating Blade Coffee Grinder.
  12. Do not attempt to defeat the cover interlock mechanism.
  13. Refer to the "Care and Cleaning" section for instructions on cleaning the surfaces in contact with food.
  14. Disconnect the Battery from the appliance before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing appliance. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the appliance accidentally.
  15. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to Battery, picking up or carrying the appliance. Carrying the appliance with your finger on the switch or energizing appliance that have the switch on invites accidents.
  16. burn hazard Recharge only with the charger specified by KitchenAid. A charger that is suitable for one type of Battery may create a risk of fire when used with another Battery.
  17. burn hazard Use appliances only with KitchenAid 12 V Battery. Use of any other batteries may create a risk of injury and fire.
  18. When the Battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the Battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
  19. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the Battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the Battery may cause irritation or burns.
  20. burn hazard Do not use a Battery or appliance that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
  21. Do not expose a Battery or appliance to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 265°F may cause explosion.
  22. burn hazard Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the Battery or appliance outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the Battery and increase the risk of fire.
  23. burn hazard Use only UL listed ITE/Class 2 USB source to charge this device. Use of any non-UL Listed USB sources may create a risk of fire.
  24. Never service damaged Battery. Service of Battery should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.
  25. Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  26. Check hopper for presence of foreign objects before using.
  27. Do not use Coffee Grinder in rain or wet conditions. Do not expose to rain-store indoors.
  28. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
  29. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  30. Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or the Battery.
