Scanner Does Not Work

Check that your scanner or printer is turned on.

With network connection, check the connection status and reconnect as

If the USB cable is connected to a USB hub, remove it from the USB hub and

connect it to a USB port on the computer.
Restart the computer.

To scan from the printer's operation panel with USB connection, click Scan-

from-Operation-Panel Settings in the Settings (General Settings) dialog, and then
check that the following checkboxes are selected.
• Your scanner or printer
• Enables scanning from the operation panel
If one or more ink tanks has reached the lower limit line shown on the ink

tank, the device's functions could be suspended. If this occurs, to continue to scan,
please follow the instructions for resolving the 1643 support code, by either (a) disabling
the system for detecting ink levels by pressing the Stop button, (b) scanning from an
external device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet using the corresponding
application software, or (c) filling the ink tank to the single dot shown on the ink tank. If
the latest firmware has not been downloaded to your printer, you should refill the ink
tank up to the single dot shown on the ink tank with the corresponding color of ink and
then close the printer's cover.
